COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacobís wash, weíve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! Itís in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Sample from bottle @ Fobab. This is a great stout. Big bourbon notes lots of dark malt flavor. Great balance between the two. Huge dark strong beer but still somehow very drinkable and incredibly smooth.

Very thick dark black pour with just a tinge of ruby highlight around the edge. A small khaki head with minimal lacing. I was immediately struck with a combination of dark bready malt and bourbon in the aroma along with some chocolate and umami. The taste has some sweetness at the start followed by plenty of bourbon and dark chocolate. Some of that bready malt character shows up, as well as a big roastiness that borders on burnt flavors. A fair amount of roasty bitterness along with hints of raisin. Finishes with big roasted malt flavors and a considerable amount of warming from the high ABV. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with a full body and moderate carbonation. This is a big beer with plenty of dark malt flavor and bourbon but it could use some age to smooth out the taste. Seems a little harsh compared to some other BBA stouts that Iíve had and enjoyed. If the price wasnít so high, Iíd probably buy another bottle to cellar, but there are other beers like this I enjoy more.

What a monster this is. Delcious, with a rich, thick malt presence that shows creamy dark chocolate, black coffee and bourbon notes. The alcohol is covered amazingly well all things considered, as this checks in around about in port-wine range, and flavors linger long past the understated hear check. Hint of spice creeps in through the long finish.

Bottle at Eulogy. Thick pitch black pour that starts with a good brown foamy head. Sligjt lace. First sip brought tremendous viscous bourbon stout flavors. Deep chocolate. Tons of burnt oak tannins. Espresso. The initial pour was way too cold but still fantastic. Let it warm and explosive flavors came out. One of the best Bourbon barrel beers I have had (which is saying a lot). Heady, but has really deep complex flavors. Nice peaty Scotch Ale hiding in the balance. Extremely great - but is notably molasses sweet. Great stuff!

Bottle (35,cl): Vintage 2013: 16,53%ABV: Served in a Chouffe glass at 13 degrees and warming: Motorioil with an unfortunate quick disappearing brown head. Aromas of liqorice, bourbon, roast, dark chocolate, wood roast, oat, sweet tar, rice roast, some dark coffee roast, hint of soy and more darkness I might forget! Flavours of roast, dark chocolate, toffee, raisin, alcohol, bourbon, mocha, bitters, light spice, wood/coffee/malt roast, cookies, loads of tasty dark tones, very delicious! Aftertaste is a mix of roast, bitters, dark chocolate, mocha, wood roast, oat, and again loads of tasty dark tones! Low carbo, thick creamy oily spiced mouthfeel, full bodied. Yum yum!

No overpowering aromas but the bourbon is the most detectable. Very dark brown in color and even after a somewhat aggressive pour not much of a head. Spotty bits of bubbles make up the lacing. Flavor is so smooth and complex; getting some bourbon, vanilla, wood, chocolate, and coffee. So vicious and velvety, coats the palate extremely well and goes down way to easily for 16.9%. There is an evident burn from the alcohol but its to be expected. Probably one of my favorite bourbon barrel aged imperial stout Iíve enjoyed to date. So awesome; go and treat yourself to one!

Bottle from beer junction 2013 vintage. Big but smooth burbon notes. Molasses with licorice. Quite large beer and a sipper at that. Fantastic beer but have to say that this is expensive compared to similar products.

12oz to tulip. Pours deep black, with a chocolate brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, and oak barrels. Taste is roasty, chocolate, charred oak, bourbon, and an underlying alcohol heat. Has a lingering, syrupy presence that
