4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hivemind (658) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 13, 2012Bottle at James’ a few months ago. Thanks James. Strange, awesome brass-brown sort of color with pretty big white head and uneven bubbles. Smell/taste are both extremely fresh pine hops. Clean finish with not a lot of aftertaste.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 mathieuc (277) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 21, 2013
Bottled 2013-04-16 so relatively fresh (Whole Foods Tribeca). Pours a veiled golden with a huge white head that you could eat with a spoon. It leaves some of the most impressive lacing I’ve seen in a while. Aroma is heavenly with intense grapefruit over a base of sweet syrup. Taste is dry with a moderate amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing, quite a treat! Awesome!

12 oz draft at the Pizzeria Paradiso - Dupont Circle, Washington DC. The pour is a orange copper, hazed, with a well formed 1/2 inch white head. The aroma is grapefruit and tropical fruit citrus hoppiness, grassy, some pine notes poking through as well. There is a dry mineral malt present as well, though the hops are the main story. The taste is the bright fresh grapefruit pineapple citrus hops, some pine grass, toasted malt, and a dry mineral in the back. Nice balance of flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft natural carbonation and the dry mineral finish. I preferred the Peeper slightly, though this was really tasty as well.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MadRobin (998) - Silver Spring, USA - MAY 14, 2013
On tap 5 oz. pour at Max's in Fells Point, Baltimore, MD.
Clear, golden pale amber with an off-white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of passion fruit, tangerine, orange, grapefruit zest and a touch of pine.
Taste of pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, bread and grass.
Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation with a thin, but smooth and foamy mouthfeel that is rather nice.

16.9oz bottle, thanks to Mike L. Date on bottle is 01/03/13. Shared. Totally hazy bright yellow-orange color. Nice thin off-white head, with good retention. Good spread of lace. Good, floral citrusy nose. Medium body. Lighter carbonation. Dry texture. Biscuity malt. Taste is light to moderate bitter, with a little zesty sweetness. Some citrus, nice light pine snap in the finish. Really nice pale ale. 4 months old, but it hasn’t got that caramel malty sweetness that other pale and amber ales can get with the same amount of age.

16.9 oz bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Bottled 1/3/13. Looks goos; a cloudy orange with sticky white lacing. Smells solid; bitter hops with some citrus zest and a semi-sweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with nice balance and a pleasant mouthfeel. Fairly dry on the finish for an APA. Good beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mansquito (2503) - Nueva York, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2013
New Beer Distributors, NY 50cl ($8.25): Reviewer below me said that this was inexpensive... not anywhere in lower Manhattan (or Virginia for that matter), for sure. In any case, it pours a peachy orange with a big, fizzy, white head. Aroma is light grapefruit, ambiguous citrus, passionfruit, other tropical fruit, and some spruce-like stuff. Taste is light. Has one hit of bitterness around the middle to finish and then goes in for a lightly bitter fruity aftertaste. Very well-balanced. Proper hop content. Beers like this make APA a style worthy of existence. Completely not lazy. Except why you so expensive.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tympanic (131) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Bottle date: April 10, 2013. Poured May 6, 2013. Fresh, per the instructions. Purchased at Foodtown in Hamilton Heights, NYC.
When I looked this up on Ratebeer, I was not expecting such a high score. Good for the style, but actually not that impressive to me. Super fizzy, huge white head, weak champagne. Inexpensive - will likely buy again and re-rate.
