Pours a rich golden color with a big frothy white foam that sticks around as the aromas open up like a dusty old trunk. Big funky wood notes jump from the glass with touches of juicy stonefruit, leather, dust and old dried lemon peel. The palate follows with amazing complexity yet balanced elegance. This beer fuckin rocks ! Love the integration of funk fruit and dust.... YUM !

Bottle, 375ml - Semi hazy orange beer with a small fizzy head. Aroma is spicy with notes of red berries, citrus, bretty funkiness and some oak. Flavor is tart with a huge grapefruit and citrus punch with hints of bretty leather. Finish is rather sweet for this type of beer. Not as complex as I had expected, but a fantastic beer nonetheless.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dunt (215) - Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Opened up for game 5 of the Hawks-Wild playoff series. Poured into a vintage Oud Beersel tumbler. Pours a translucent brownish yellow/orange in color with about a fingers worth of off-white head. There is excellent head retention for minutes after pouring. Nose is uncharacteristically faint for a 3F gueuze to me, maybe it just hasn’t opened up enough yet? Faint lemon rind, stone fruit, must, and horse blanket. The flavor is more alive despite being a little muted still. Sharp lemon rind, a healthy dose of mineral, and some gentle funk on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little watery and light, but the carbonation is lively, the acidity is puckering, and the finish is moderate in length. I’ve liked every bottle I’ve opened of this so far, but this seems to be a little bit of a letdown for some reason. For the money, I’d much rather just have an OGV or an aged 3F Oude geuze. Regardless, Armand is still the man and this is delicious.

Bottle corked. Poured clear copper color with a large frothy off-white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour yeast wood aroma. Medium to full body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium sour citrus flavor with a medium sour finish of moderated duration. This is a standout for style beer.
