4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Enjoyed on tap at Goose Island Stout Fest 2012 in Chicago, IL. This is one of the better BCS varieties Iíve had...still doesnít beat the Coffee version though. Appearance is pitch black, very thick, absolutely no head. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, lactose, bit more of whiskey, very good aroma. Taste is really really good, a lot of the same attributes in regular BCS, maybe a slight bit of whiskey flavor, its very good.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Stout Fest, great oak character and again heavy whiskey (I wish Iíd had the actually whiskey but canít say I have). Sweet to have a local barrel involved a bit less boozy than the 84 I found.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Stout Fest. Great to see the use of a local barrel for BCBS. Pours a deep brown black with a dark brown head. Nose is really nice. Lots of spicy oak character, vanilla and whiskey. Roast and cocoa dominate. The oak is really well integrated and very fragrant. On tasting, oak forward with a lot of the spicy booze character coming through. More wood forward than normal bourbon county. Spicy and roasty, dry. Phenomenal.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Stoutfest 2012, Thick black pour with almost no head, bourbon, oak and vanilla aroma. Very similar to regular BCS, but with a heavier whiskey taste. One of my favorites for the day.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Samples poured on tap at Goose Island Clybournís Stoutfest 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich thick blackish hue, inky with a frothy tannish head, a good ring, not as dark. Aromas are rich touches of spice and whiskey, vanilla, oak, and toffee. Caramel, toast, gentle fudge. A bit restrained and covered by the Koval barrel. Sticky and sweeter as it warms. Initial is full bodied, offering gentle whiskey and spice, vanilla, rich toast and caramel. Toffee, vanilla, and rich toffee. Cocoa takes over in the middle, fudge and toffee, working itís way in. Fudgy middle. Backend is spicy, touches of hot spirit jab a bit, vanilla, spice, oak. Barrel leaves a lingering impression, though not overpowering. Not bad.
