COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all Ė it must taste rare!

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2012 Bottle 33 cl. Oily and massively thick black with a reddish hue and a tiny orange-brown head. Aroma is sweet Finnish licorice, and dark fermented sugary prunes. Taste is sweet roast, thickend syrup and dark dried prunes, some tobacco accents. Massive body, low carbonation, no real bitterness, but a very big, long licoricy finnish. Exceptional!

EtTuCthulhu (1137) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - DEC 22, 2014
This beer pours a solid black color with a small brown ring. The aroma mixes roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and booze, and the taste is mildly better, mildly umami, slightly sweet, and slightly boozy with a roasted aftertaste that is a bit more boozy than the initial flavor. Despite the stronger booze present in the finish, the overall aftertaste is still fairly balanced because neither roastiness nor booziness overpowers the other. The palates uses an oily texture, medium body, and a flat carbonation.

swanmann (629) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Bottle: Itís nearly black, dark chocolate brown with about 2 inches of brown foam. It smells like rum and chocolate. The taste is sort of the same. Sweet and chocolatey, with some boozy warmth. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and syrupy, a bit reminiscent of Ten Fidy by Oskar Blues. Itís a hardcore brew for sure. More choco than soy. Not overly sweet but should still hold up (and possibly benefit) with some age.

It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of malts, vanilla, prunes, figs, chocolate and some caramel. The taste was of roasted malts with vanilla, chocolate and a hint of prunes with some caramel sweetness. Very tasty.

Ober (2812) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - DEC 7, 2014
A pitch black colored beer, with an almost brown head. The aroma of chocolate with raisins, laurel, and alcohol. The taste starts gently, then overwelming chocolate with raisins several kinds of laurel burny alcohol. By the aftertaste the burny alcohol stays in your mouth. But stil there is the chocolate and laurel. Great beer.

glennmastrange (2324) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2014
Bottle. Heavy toasted cereal and dark chocolate for the malt, light to moderate resin for the hops, dough and earth for the yeast, with black rum and tar in the background. Head is small, frothy, light brown with good slippery lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is black. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is full, creamy, with a soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Super flavor and trexture in this top notch Imperial Stout.

Black with dark brown, chocolate shake, head, with fine, wet lacing / Rich nose of dark fruit, chocolate, molasses, tobacco, caramel, coffee / Full body, smooth, creamy with some chew, sweet but with excellent balance and bitter finish, light & appealing boozy winey-ness / Flavors of roast coffee, molasses, bittersweet chocolate, caramel, date, prune, cream, cigar box / If you like these big, rich, intense stouts, this is probably a perfect example.

I chose this beer to have at the party following my fourth childís baptism, so that after a long service my family, rector, and I could have Even More Jesus in our lives. Good choice. Classic Imperial Stout, the kind I would have been crazy for in the earlier days of microbrews (DFH WWS, etc.) Even if it is less unique and less an accomplishment, it is still marvelously put together at all levels, producing a nose, initial impression and finish that are all very alluring. Nicely done. Bottle.

GIJOE (688) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Pours black as Satan's heart with a huge, creamy, brown head that slowly reduces to a thin film. Nice lacing. Nose is rich chocolate, coffee, malt, and yeast with notes of boozy raisin. Taste is quite bitter, but the massive malt bill comes through nicely. Full body; moderate carbonation. Very tasty! A burly brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with a friend. Iím not lying when I say this: We played beer pong with this beer at a Halloween party. Yes, thatís right. The beer pours a black with a toffee colored head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste of milk chocolate, coffee, and dark roasted malts. Very delicious. I donít recommend playing beer pong with it.
