Oily and massively thick black with a reddish hue and a tiny orange-brown head. Aroma is sweet Finnish licorice, and dark fermented sugary prunes. Taste is sweet roast, thickend syrup and dark dried prunes, some tobacco accents. Massive body, low carbonation, no real bitterness, but a very big, long licoricy finnish. Exceptional!

22oz bottle from Party Source, split with Dan... Pitch black color. Good thin dark brown head. Good splotches of lace. Good bitter taste, but kind of a stronger, sweet taste, too.. Tasty, but I’d prefer less sweet. Some sweet molasses flavor, lightly burnt malts, fudge, some light earthy hop evident. Smells kind of off... Some kind of industrial product smell that I was hoping would go away as it warmed up, but it didn’t really. Dan describes it as the aroma you get when you first open up a can of paint. 12% alcohol isn’t too noticeable, besides the above average sweetness. Big, chewy, but also kind of sticky body. Lighter, smooth carbonation. Little sticky in the finish. Dan didn’t like this - he couldn’t finish his sample. He says the old, tobacco flavor lingers too much, kind of a citric acid type flavor lingers for him. I’m a bit disappointed myself, mostly because this is too sweet, with some molasses, sugar, and yeah maybe some tobacco type flavors. A solid, sweet imperial stout, but I was hoping for a much better harmony of flavors. At least less sweetness. Odd, since I remember really enjoying the Aun Mas A Jesus version. I can only assume that it was fresher, and kept in better conditions. Maybe I got a bad bottle?

Shared bomber viscously poured to snifters with a garnet highlighted, black/brown color, a light layer of brownish, bubbly head foam that diminshed quickly to a ring & film, and left only some light, spotty lacing, but a leggy/syrupy coating on the glass. The nose was highly roasted, with mainly chocolate, then some coffee, followed by dark cherry sweetness. The flavor presented hefty alcohol, and a woody/oaky astringency that came off a little harsh imo. Still impressive, and a fitting final offering to our local tasting panel.

Heavy body with aroma of coffee, chocolate, soy sauce. Body is surprisingly thin, with a bold array of flavors. Every sip brings out a different dimension.

Bomber. Pours pitch black with a small foamy brown head that lingers nicely and leaves oily lacing on the glass. Rich, sweet aroma of chocolate cake, tobacco, caramel, light coffee, and dark fruit. Taste is just awesome. Moderately sweet and very rich in flavor. Chocolate fudge and tobacco dominate but there are hints of dark fruit and caramel throughout. Finish is mildly bitter, some light coffee. Fairly thick body, creamy, oily, and even a chewy too. This is just awesome stuff and it’s my kinda imperial stout. I want more. Reminds me of Founders Imperial Stout which I love.

Bottle. Used motor oil black pour with a thick mocha colored head. Aroma is strong roasted malt, bold dark roast coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate and dark fruit notes. Very sweet taste with more roasted malt, dark fruits, burnt brownies, dark chocolate, coffee notes and fresh fudge. Body is thick and chewy with a strong, dense, bubbly carbonation and a sugary stickiness. Ends with more dark chocolate, fudge, chocolate covered oily coffee beans and dark fruit notes.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 humlelala (716) - DENMARK - JUN 15, 2013
(bomber from Ølbutikken) Pours pitch black with big, coffee head. Zero carbonation and thick, creamy body. Aroma is roasted malt, dark fruits and hints of coffee, tar and smoke. There’s also some plum in there. Green? Creamy texture, flat, monstrously full body and a dark, roasted finish. Flavour is not as sweet as one would think - perhaps more dark chocolate and booze.

Draft @ When Pigs Fly. Pitch black with a nice tan head that laced the entire snifter. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, hops and a little raisin. Taste is dark roasted malts, burnt coffee beans, rich high end chocolate, caramel and just a faint hint of smoke. Full body with a thick oily sticky texture. Low carbonation, long roasted finish with light alcohol as well. The flavors of this stout dance across the tongue. A slightly different flavor combinations from the first sip to the end of the snifter. Nice level of complex roasted malts. This is a wonderful stout! Give this a try for sure!

Super dark colour sporting a used motor oil like texture. Big beer with crazy long esters, chocholate and molasses, sugar cane and a slight vegemite character. Sweet and boozy, prune juice like quality on the palate, viscous, thick and awesomeness, if one dimensional.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tobias (168) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUN 9, 2013
22 oz bottle. The pour is very thick with a brown head. I don’t know if my nose is off but the aroma is mostly of wet paint ( alcohol), faint hints of roast, and dark fruit. Hints if chocolate but overall disappointing. Flavor is very much of chocolate fudge, raisins, dates and hints if coffee. Thick syrupy mouth feel. Low carbonation. Aroma aside, I felt like a drank a dark chocolate bar which I enjoyed. A little sweet and unbalanced. Not in a bad way. Slightly disappointed overall.
