COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
RUINING PALATES SINCE 2002
In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is ďA Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,Ē then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

So thrilled to get my hands on a bottle of this since Ruination is my top rated brew. Poured from a bomber that was chilled in a cooler while driven straight from CA to OK. I also poured a "regular" Ruination so I could A/B them. Pours a cloudy golden orange, a hue I would paint my walls. Obviously way more hops in the dry hop process. Very complex, very smooth, very awesome...however, believe it or not, I prefer the regular Ruination by a sliver of a hair. I do like the ABV and IBU of the 10th Anni, but lucky for me the normal Ruination wins in this A/B test. That said, Iím thrilled to be enjoying the 10th Anni...itís like they turned up the intensity level on this from the Ruination. Well done Stone, well done.

Location: Bottle from Safeway in Redwood City, CA
Aroma: Very piney, medicinal candy... almost pine sol as it warms
Taste: Taste is rich marmalade, medicinal maltiness, nasal burn and then mellow warming in the chest
Overall: Not my favorite thing from Stone...the aroma here is way too astringent / chemical cleaner. The flavor is thick and marmalade-y...but the chemical notes are surprising. Could work as a VapoRub remedy.

Keg @ Bishops Arms, Hornsgatan. Slightly hazy amber, lacing off-white head. Sweet malty, fresh hoppy, resinous aroma, bread and biscuits.. Big and bold, chewy mouthfeel, mild carbonated. Mid-sweet and hoppy taste, biscuits and caramel, resin, pine and citrus. Warming finish.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2016 On tap at Erzbierschof. Aroma is all bitter caramel. Flavour has big caramel and biscuit notes, with a little fruitiness (maybe some apple?) before the big bitter finale. Huge flavour.

From a 650ml bottle on 19/8/2016. Pours a clear deep golden with a small to medium head. For something so big, the aroma is pretty subdued, though I am suffering a bit of a cold at the moment. Thereís some caramel and light earthy, fruity hops, but itís all quite subtle, Take a sip and itís an entirely different story. There is a real intensity and length to it that makes itself known immediately. Thereís a big malt presence (caramel and biscuit), some pronounced sweet citrus, tropical and stone fruit sweetness, which is bludgeoned by a massive, camphorous, resiny, herbal, tongue coating bitterness which somehow manages to convince you youíre drinking something even stronger than 10.8%. This is a very dry, almost mediciinal experience - a chewy, oily sipper, which is not an easy quaffer. Challenging and flavour packed, yet a little difficult to truly fall in love with. Definitely a memorable experience none the less.

Bottle from beer junction. Pretty malty and at less than 50 days it seems as if it it turning to more of a barleywine. Itís a great concise IPA. But more malt than hops.

Clear amber color with foam layer. Hop liquor nose. Creamy thickish mouth feeling with a lot of intense earth hops and a heavy character. Dry and bitter hoppy aftertaste.

draught@Erzbierschof - translucide amber beer with a little beige foam left; aroma of quinces, pines and lemongrass; subtle carbonation, pretty sticky, assertive and lively palate; solidly bitter but pretty sweet too; caramel, red fruits and tons of hops in the finish; warming alcohol presence

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. The forest floor again. This time even more extreme and really well balanced. Palate lasts and tastes finally. Nice.

On tap at Brewhouse Brisbane 030816. This is such a big beer in every way and it is so intense that it takes a while to get through it. The best way to describe this beer is chewy, it is almost like a meal in a glass. Hops dominate everything about this beer and it is not a beer that you can drink quickly or drink a lot of.

Hops are awesome, taste on a stout side (which is not my style) via Beer Buddy for iPhone
