In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is ďA Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,Ē then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

This starts with a huge blast of grapefruity hops. It pours a clear reddish-amber, with a thin white head that retreats to a ring fairly quickly. If you like balanced IIPAís, stay away from this one. This is a total hop bomb, with just enough malt there to give it a nice body, and act as a buffer for the grapefruit bitterness to ride in on. Thereís a long lingering bitter finish, and a bit of dryness. The alcohol is a bit noticeable as a touch of heat. I have the feeling Iíll be buying lots of this while itís available.

Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Clear orange golden color, decent sized white head. Aroma is malts, loads of hops, quite piney, lightly tropical fruits. Taste malts, loads of hops, lightly alcohol, resin, pine, pineapple, pretty bitter. Medium to full body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice indeed!

Sharp grapefruit nose pours a nice amber color with decent head. Tastes very good, a little bit heavy but overall I like it

Probably one of my highest rated beers ever. So close to the perfect IPA. Just a hint too much of that sweet crystal(Vienna?) Malt that stone likes so much. Luckily the hops blow out 99% of that flavor.

A great, pour. Gold in color, mild aroma with hints of grapefruit. The alcohol is a bit much but none the less doesn't take away from the flavor of the beer! Enjoy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice clear amber color with a thin head. Strong nose of citrus and pine. Taste of grapefruit then followed by bitter hops - but not overpowering. Good beer, maybe a drop syrupy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A bitter grapefruit nose blended with soft malt in the nose. The heavy, dank bitterness builds over the first 4 seconds of the taste. A bready, slightly caramel malt balances the abundant hops. The effectively astringent hops have an element of hay or grass. The body is full, rich and slightly sticky. This is a west coast imperial on a unique track. Something special for those who like their jowls twisted!

Sweet danky hops, earthy, catty aroma. Lightly hazy, orange color, white head. Very danky, earthy, hoppy, sweet, moderate bitterness.

This is one IIPA that veers toward hoppy barleywine territory--not that that is a bad thing. Well, not necessarily... In this case, I feel the beer comes off a bit heavy which brings out the sticky resinous qualities of the hops at the expense of more vibrant fruity flavors. It is sticky and gummy w/ lots of melon and piny mango character. To me, an ideal IIPA does not forget itís a pale ale and while I do not expect one to be as drinkable as a lower gravity beer, it should have at least some lightness to it and this does not. It is not overall a disaster but I do not think I will be repurchasing when this comes out again. It is below average for the style and for beer in general.

Smell of sweet fruit and pine. Appearance is amber with khaki head. Taste is caramel hop freshness malty and bitter finish with slight boozy burn
