On tap at CBC, enjoyed with beerbiker and evil stepdad. The hightlight of the evening for me. Dark dark brown with almost no head. Very powerfull peat smoke aroma, wood, toffee and then more peat. Soft caramel/toffee sweet flavor again lots of smoke, great stuff.

Bottle at a big tasting (Nördprovning 2015). Bourbon and smoke dominates the smell but I also got some dark malts and a boozy alcoholic warmth. Sweet taste with dark malts, but also boozy with bourbon. Lots of smoke from the bourbon. The bourbon is overpowering.

From bottle @ home. When just opening the bottle you immediately get a intrinsic peated whisky-smell; as a beer AND whisky lover, I love this! After pouring, the beer itself looks jet black with a nice -but light- brown foam on top. The foam could be a bit more firm and lasting. I had the feeling that when I drank it from tap @ Borefts Beer Festival earlier this year, this part was better. But the taste and the palate are just fantastic. Very peated, quite dry/coffee grindish, dry fruit and hints liquorice. Personally one of the best Dutch beers I ever had!

Bottle from Bierkompass. Pitch black beer with a small beige head. Peat aroma, malty, leather, smoked, whisky, ash, tar, licorice notes, raisins, caramel, some bitter hops. Smoked flavor, peat, leather, ash, hay, perfume, cigarette smoke, dry, malty, vanilla notes, whisky, bitter hops, caramel notes. Long peat finish with leather, caramel, vanilla, ash and whisky notes.

Draft at Monks, and bottle in Amsterdam. Opaque black pour with medium off brown head. Lots of sporadic lacing left behind while drinking. Notes of smoke, oak, peat, nuts, toffee, fig, and dark fruits. Other notes of cocoa and licorice as it warmed. Decent beer but not necessarily my style.

Black body, and no head. Could use one... Roasted malts and chocolate, some liquour but not to overwhelming. Nothing bad, but nothing renewing neither....

On tap at CBC 2012. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Malty-smokey aroma. Starts intense malty, a bit alcoholic, quite earthy-malty. Hints of liquorice. Warming finish, intense malty with coffee notes. Great beer!

Draft at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia, PA. Pours pitch black and opaque with a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a thin lasting ring. Sporadic lace left behind. Insanely smokey, peaty aroma.  Tons of campfire smokiness and very strong peated whiskey barrel character. Very intense with smoked malt, toasted oak and a shit ton of peated whiskey.  Hints of charcoal, butane, smoked meat and  sweet booze with dark malt notes underneath.  Kind of one dimensional but smells ridiculously amazing! Medium bodied with an intense blend of peated whiskey barrel, earthy oak, smoked malts, sweet, spicy whiskey and other dark malt notes.  Again, slightly one dimensional  with tons of smoke/peat flavor but it’s delicious.  Smoked malt flavor with charcoal, campfire, bacon and butane followed by some burnt toast and dark chocolate before another rush of peated whiskey comes through.  Smoke and more smoke but not completely overpowerig with lots of sweet, spicy whiskey and dark malts.  Dangerously drinkable considering how intense it is.  High ABV very well hidden.  Has lots of alcohol/whiskey flavor with no heat. Delicious!
