COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This bold Belgian Style Ale is a blend of 4 sources of fermentable sugars. American Oak, sour cherries, and three seperate strains of brettanomyces. It takes over a year to make each batch because a beer like this requires patience, creativity, and most importantly, equal parts luck and skill. We know of no other beverage in the world that tastes like this.

Reviewed back in 2009 - Cuvee pours a dark mahogany brown color. When I popped the cork I got a nice little pop. A lot louder then I got from Older. A small amount of head and bubbles formed but quickly disappeared into what you see on the right. The aroma on this beer is fantastic. Dark fruit, sour cherries, oak, and a little bit of alcohol. It’s definitely a sour aroma but it’s not really big. Not like some other beers I’ve had like this. Taste is just as good and I was left wanting more when I was done. Up front is a nice sourness/tartness. That’s backed up by cherries, bourbon, and oak. It’s a great combo of cherries and smokey oak. Alcohol definitely plays a role here. It doesn’t interfere with the great taste though. The sourness sits on your palette and lips. Mouthfeels lies more on the thick side. No carbonation like I said and silky. Goes down nice.

Tap @ Regal Beagle. Showed up at this bar last week ordering from their quality selection when we noticed that everyone was ordering this one. I’m not particularly a fan of sours, in general, so this beer wasn’t really on my radar until it became clear that everyone else had come just for this. Thankfully I ordered one, because this beer was quite the find.

Pours dark brown, ruby in some light, creamy in another. Aroma is sour cherries, bourbon, other dark fruits, caramel, wood. Flavor is immediately sour, but with a nice warming from the booze. As the drink warms, the sourness and sweetness create a very unique experience. The cherries are always there, but are never in your face. 11.5% for sure, but the alcohol flavor is never really powerful. Creamy and warm with a sour finish. I will definitely be grabbing some bottles of this.

Sour cherries, bruised apples, raisins and funk blend together for a wonderful taste. Damn near a perfect sour.

2011 Bottle. Sweet cherry aroma, also a distinct Pinot noir aroma. Maybe some hints of brandy. No head to speak of, dark hazy mahogany. Bitter sour finish, but a nice subdued cherry flavor, the sour is apparent the entire time but it is not overwhelming. as the beer warms, it becomes more manageable,

Bottle, 2010 ed, courtesy GT2, thanks brosef! Pour is muddy ruby/brown with no head, some bubbles. Aroma of raspberry, oak, chocolate, fruity esters, funk. Taste is quite nice: subdued sourness, oak, chocolate, light vinegar, raspberry. Palate is soft, oily, lactic finish. Just outstanding.
