4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: rich, dark ruby red with mahogany and purplish highlights; short, creamy khaki head that lasts, leaving lace rings--gorgeous beer. Aroma: brown sugar, molasses, toasted pumpernickel, leather, chocolate. Taste: light toffee and brown sugar, then a slow wave of molasses and dark fruit, then a wash of tobacco, leather, slightly burnt toast, and chocolate. Finish: low and slow, with a hint of smoky sweetness . Notes: My favorite style of beer from my favorite brewery. What could go wrong? Virtually nothing. This was an astoundingly excellent beer that started great and got even better as it warmed and the flavors came together in a perfect balance of sweetness, earth, mellow hops, and smoke. Near perfect. The only better doppelbock is the Ayinger Celebrator.

"Super nice malty aroma and flavor. Breadline, yes, but it is also distinctly Great Divide. They have a common theme with their malty stuff that I absolutely love, though strict traditionalists may cringe. If you like Hibernation, you’d like this."

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a finger of head on a cloudy brown colored body.
The aroma is dry hay, caramel and grain.
The taste starts off with a mild lemon bitter and quickly moves to caramel and malty sweetness that carries through to the end. The finish is long and sweet.
The texture is sticky with moderate carbonation.
A solid drink.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated on 7-10-2012 (Draft at Dash-In - Fort Wayne, IN) This beer has a small creamy smooth beige head with a short retention, transparent reddish brown body, no lacing observed, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, roasty and rich. The flavor is caramel malt, roasty, toffee, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and has a lingering roasty aftertaste that is not offensive. This beer is worth trying. More please!

Usually not a big fan of the style, this was pretty good. Malt forward with caramel and bread. The flavor was caramel and bread too with a nice balance. Very easy going down.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber bottled about this day last year. Subtle dark fruit aroma with caramel and some toffee. Pours caramel colored with a thin light brown head and excellent lacing. Great dark fruit, caramel and toffee malt flavors to start with a very lively, malty mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth with all of the flavors mentioned lingering on the palate long after the sip is finished. Nice doppelbock.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber bottled exactly one year ago today. Served at about 50 degrees in a pint glass. Pours a clear brandy hue with moderate carbonation. Fine thick head with moderate lacing. Delicious maltiness and slight hop presence. Alcohol is well hidden. This is the best American doppelbock I have tried and find it better than some German ones.
