COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shall one compare thee to a fair beer, Not even this perfect porter before thou will do thee justice. Thou art more complex, brave and cunning. Thou have changed more than a brew will ever. Thou may be lil’, but thy mind is greater than words can speak and beer will ever taste.

On tap at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Rich, nearly black pour with a tan head. Nose of toasted nuts, complex coffee, chocolate, toffee, huge fruits--plums, prunes, raisins. So much going on here. A big, big beer, but not boozy or overwhelming. Palate was lighter than expected for the ABV as well. So tasty.

Bottled. A black with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, chocolate, roasted malt, and soy sauce, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Whole Foods, Bowery 12oz ($4): Pours black with a wee brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malts, along with some vanilla and milk chocolate. Taste is pretty sweet. There is a wee bit of roasted malt bitterness, but it dissolves into a sweet and creamy aftertaste. Alcohol is superbly well hidden. I admit that I mostly purchased this because this beer has the same name as the worst rapper of all time--Lil B. If you want to hear something truly terrible, tune into some music by the "basedgod." Fortunately, this beer is much better than the rapper, much, much better.

mixmasterob (829) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle from CBX. Jet black, oily pour with no head. Slight signs of carbonation. Aroma was big and roasty, melted candy bar, lots of vanilla, sweet fruit. Flavors were sweet with light hints of roasted malt and a decent fruity presence. Thick almost fudgy mouthfeel with light carbonation. Very clean all around and rather drinkable given the size. Pretty sure this is the base beer for Imperial Biscotti. Solid.

hayduke (2933) - Eureka, California, USA - MAY 5, 2013
A draft pour at the LOCAL BEER BAR in Eureka, CA. Came in the glass a very dark brown that was almost black with a big creamy and dark tan head that left stick lacing rings. Nose is treacle and chocolate. Full body. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is a rich chocolate, dark ripe fruit, treacle, and a tiny bit of coffee. The finish has some herbal touches. The alcohol in this is well hidden. Nevertheless this remains a sipper. Quite good.

Boozy aroma of dark fruit, nutty, and chocolate on back end. Darkest brown with brown head. Chocolate roast coffee vanilla and some dark fruit. Surprisingly easy to drink.
