COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2012 Dark pour with razor thin off white head. Nose was one of the best for my tastes with super over the top coconut, spices, and dark fruit. Taste is also heavy on coconut but the base beer shines through nicely with dark fruit and raisins. Judgement Day is one of my favorite LA regulars and I am a huge fan of strong coconut flavors in bourbon barrel aged beers. This was a home run for me.

Bottle from Capone’s and pricey. Some bubbles rather than a head on a dark body. A mild raison aroma. Raison is significant on taste, overpowering the chile in the home stretch. Dangerously drinkable but not for everybody.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Dark brown color, almost black, with a bit of light brown foam. Big aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, dark chocolate, caramel and some nuts. Sweet flavor with malt, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, oak, caramel, dark fruits and a slightly spicy finish with a bit of alcohol. Nice full and rounded mouthfeel. Very good.

On tap at fobab. One of my favorites from the night. Pours a medium brown without much head. Aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, bourbon, slight pepper. Taste was bourbon sweetness with a slightly spicy finish to it. Medium body. Medium low carb.

Bottle shared by brew3crew - thanks again, Jason! Pours a hazy amber-brown color with no head. Notes of cinnamon, brown sugar, raisin, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, oak, oatmeal, and very light earth, with just the faintest suggestion of chile spice. Comes across somewhere between an oatmeal raisin cookie or a cinnamon roll. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, smooth, lightly spiced mouthfeel. Fun beer.

12.7oz bottle, split with brew3crew and co. Hazy brown, slight red color. Minimal ring of off-white head. The description was making me think oatmeal cookie, and the flavor... Really a lot like oatmeal cookie. Looks like that’s what they were going for, based off the description. Whoa, but this is 13.7%??? Damn, well-done. Moderate sweet taste, light bit of tannic, a very light bit of spicy taste, and a very acceptable amount of mild heat in the finish, just a touch of a bite. Bigger body, good full kind of creamy texture, lightly dry, very light slick. Very fun stuff, a treat to try.

Corked bottle, split pour. Pours a darker brown color with a sweet dark fruit and bourbon aroma. A ton of brown sugar, maple, raisin and dark fruits flavor, in that order. From strongest to weakest. Smooth sweet, transitioning flavor all throughout. Well hidden alcohol. Present bourbon, yet super easy to drink. Solid beer here.

Raisin bread aged in bourbon barrels. Enough said. Haha. Bottle to glass. Deep brown color with a medium brown head. Aroma is sweet, milky, raisins, dark fruits, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor is a big bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, molasses. Medium to heavy body with a creamy mouthfeel. Lingering bourbon, vanilla, sweet malts, dark fruits. Fantastic!
