16 oz. can, consumed on 11-1-12. The second can I had from a four-pack, and I enjoyed the first one just as much as I did this one. Awesome, hops-centric aroma: Dry, bitter, mineral-y smell featuring citrus, peach, apricot, cracker, and bread scents as well as, yes, cat urine (I dislike that deScription because it canít help but come off as critical, even though I donít mean it as such). Very strong and perfect wet-hopped IPA aroma. Pours a clear gold with slow-rising bubbles and a moderate amount of long-lasting, thick, cream-colored head. Produces very good lacing. Sharp, dry, mineral-y, grainy flavor matches the aroma. Lemon, peach, vanilla, and gin and tonic / quinine elements in the taste. Alcohol noticeable in the flavor. Long, dry aftertaste. Easy to drink but filling. Very lively; soft and smooth in the palate. Medium body. Surly Wet 2012 is one of the best beers Iíve had in years. You canít ask for much more in the style or, really, any style. This beer is well made, highly aromatic and flavorful, and simply excellent!

A bit disappointing. Iíve had this before and itís been great, but this yearsí version just seems rather muted all around. Pours a golden-copper, with good-sized head. Aroma is primarily grassy, without the citrus and tropical fruit aromas one would expect. Flavor is marked by some citrus--a bit of lemon--some hops, with a clean finish, not bitter. I guess I was expecting more of a hop-bomb or something. Not sure this was worth the price.

Aroma is some citrus, somewhat dank, very fresh. Taste is balanced, with pine, pineapple, and sweet malts melding together nicely. Not nearly as "in-your-face" or bold as Axe Man or Abrasive, priced the same. Very good if price isnít a factor, but sub-par if it is.

Pour out of 16 oz can, dark orange clear pour with white head, aroma brought big orange, grapefruit notes with a bit of citrus peel into some resinous, herbal fresh hop notes, some caramel comes through with some pine. Taste was a mix of lemon, grapefruit, and orange into some resin, piney, fresh hop notes with more grass, some caramel to balance, finishing bitter. Nice.

16 oz can from the 2012 Release courtesy of Tyto. Thanks, dude. Admittedly, I never added this rating and with 2013 coming in soon (Still never got 2011), I wanted to get it in. Pours a decent hazed golden hue, settles out a bit and some nicer darker fall sunny hues glow, a touch of orange. Decent carbonation, firmer ring of brighter white head sits atop, dies to a mellow layer and dies down a bit. Laces ok as a filmy layer. Aromas show distinct simcoe, fruity tropical elements meet grapefruit, rind, and a touch of cattiness and piney hops still sustain. Bready malts, florals, and grass hit the nose. Firmer bitter and hop driven nose is fresh and vibrant. Clean, a bit soapy. Really nice fresh nose. Initial is good and bitter, a firm hopping displays citrus rind and grapefruit quickly, pushing into piney and floral hops very soon after. Dry, resiny, and bitter off the bat. Good hop profile and bitterness sustains, the middle showing bready and gentel fruit elements. A lighter body and malt presence, but still at 7.5% ABV, Iíd never be able to tell that. Some crisp bready and golden cereal malts, quickly back into dry and resiny hops. Pine, dank green and earthy hops, some citrus tapers out as we round the corner. Just really sustained the hop presence, especially pine and earthy life. I really expected more fruit. Donít get me wrong, the citrus and grapefruit juice, lemon and soapiness is there.. but the pine overwhelms it. Quite resiny, dank, and bitter as we finish up. Some soap, florals, dry and quite drinkable even at itís size. Quite lovely. Really sad I never had the Citra version (I didnít know these were new at the time), but excited for the 2013.

One of the best beers they put out. Definitly one of the top 3 in my opinion. Nice and fresh and a beer of theirs that is worth seeking out. Wet and Abrasive are currently my two favorite beers of theirs.

In short: A clean citrusy, grassy, piney blond IPA. Excellent.
How: Can 16oz. A few cans sent from a few people, thanks guys. Consumed approximately 2 months after the beer release.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a medium white head with medium retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is citrusy and slightly piney hops with some green grass. Taste has a bed of honeyed cereals, a light Frosted Flakesô sensation, a solid hopping, green grass juice and citrus fruits and piney notes. Short bright bitterness of medium intensity. Nothing resinous or sticky here. As it is always the case with Surly cans, carbonation was spot-on perfectly levelled. This one didnít feel like a typical wet hop IPA to me, there was some of that green grass juice/vegetables that I usually associates to wet hop IPAs but overall it tasted as much like a Ďnormalí IPA than a wet hop one. Anyway, an excellent IPA. I got a few cans from a few regular trade partners (oakbluff, tyler_mn) because my wife wanted some too, sorry guys about the ďcan you get my wife Wet?Ē confusion.

Can [16oz] courtesy of Glouglouburp. Pours a hazy gold with a large semi-lasting frothy white head and some lacing on the glass. Nice, big hoppy aroma along with bready malt and citrus fruit. Great hoppy flavour, resiny, fruity, piney and more, along with bready malt, citrus and a medium+ bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Simply put, a solid IPA.

Can. Pours a clear orange gold with a medium white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a strong floral hop and pine, just amazing nose. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet floral malt and very strong hop bite and nice lingering bitter finish. Hides alcohol decently, a very impressive IPA from Surly.

Tap while visiting Minneapolis in October. Pours a golden with medium sudsy white foam head. Aroma is citrus, slight dank and what I just think of as being "fresh hopped" smell. Taste is very resinous with grapefruit and loads more fresh hops here. Loved this beer more than the 2011 version.

16 oz. tallboy can poured into a becker pint glass. Canned on 9/25/12 and enjoyed 10/11/12. Pours a golden amber with some orangish hues topped with a fluffy and sticky two and a half finger white head. Good retention and splotchy, sticky lacing all around the glass. Strong smell of pine sap, grapefruit rind and citrus on the nose. Opens with a touch of sweet citrus joined suddenly by bitter rind, strong pine notes, a hint of honey like sweetness as the malt joins in midpalate and finish dry and extremely bitter with a blast of pine and grapefruit rind. Slick, oily, and resinous, medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. The wet hops are certainly the star of the show in this brew and there isnít much between your tongue and their oily, sticky bitterness. An excellent wet hop West Coast-style IPA.
