4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks a TON bauermj. What a treat! Absolutely gorgeous pour, deep ruby orange with a lively carbonation and two fingers of light beige tan head. Nose is magical, smells like green apple jolly ranchers and a mulled cranberry cider. Candy-ish but acidic and lightly spicy. Hints of cherry and almond pit creep through as well. One of the most incredible and engaging aromas I’ve ever encountered. Oh man, this beer isn’t even fair.. . spicy and tart flavor with a lot of fruit candy coming through and a wonderful acidity. Medium body and soft but crisp carbonation.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Jester King Zwanze Day. Amber pour with a white head. The aroma is full of huge cherry notes, the kind of fresh fruit you only get from New Glarus fruit beers. The flavor is more of the same. I get some gigantic cherry as well as some light tartness, a hint of brown sugar and some toffee. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. New Glares has done it again.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 mL. Cherry wood color with a quickly dissipating head. Cranberries, tart apple, a little woodiness, almonds and black cherries. Has a cranberry tartness that melds into a soft cherry sweetness. Body is lighter with an acidic feel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
#800! Pours a deep ruby red with a brown/pink head. Aroma of tart cherries and cranberries with some Belgian funk. Taste is tart up front, then woody with strawberry and apple cider coming through. Very good, but not as good to me as Belgian Red.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, acquired via trade with dresden (thanks Steve!), and shared with Ferris. Deep purple-red body capped by a bubbly pink head. Loaded with jammy sweet fruit character, cherries and apples stand out, with just a mild yeast presence. Despite the claim made on the label, I found this to not be sour at all. Maybe a little funky character, but this is a fruit-dominated sweet ale all the way. Nice character, but I’m glad I had someone to share it with, as I think it would have been too sweet to drink much more of.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet, tart, and woody. It pushes all three aspects for me, but never quite to excess. Almost cloying, complex aroma. I guess that’s the name of the game for fruit beers like this. Taste is nice, and at this point in my beer journey I can’t see a fruit beer going much higher than this.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a reddish cidery garnet. Aroma is tart apples, apple juice, jammy sour cherry, light caramel, fruit rollup, sweet tarts. Taste is apple fading into light cherries on the midpalate followed by jammy red fruits, cherry skins, and an almost Concord grape note. Sweetness balanced by tartness. Good carbonation. Having had their Belgian Red fairly recently, I think I prefer this. Excellent.
