Mint, chocolate, oatmeal, Imperial Stout. Beer bliss. 9.6% alcohol. Original recipe was made by a San Diego guy named Ken Schmidt. Stone Brew Co. was assisted by some guy from Iron Fist Brew Co. in making this beer as well. They suggest letting it sit in the cellar for a few years before drinking. I don’t have a cellar, so I’m drinking it now. And even if I did have a cellar, I would still be drinking it now. The mint flavor is overwhelming. The Imperial Stout body is exceptional. This beer is really bad-ass.

12oz bottle as a trade extra. Pours a jet black with a small white head. Aromas of mint and chocolate, duh. Taste is semi sweet and slightly bitter. Flavors of mint, chocolate, roast, some coffee. Very thick mouthfeel. Impressive, actually. Finishes pretty sticky and sweet with boat loads of mint. Pretty decent.

Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Roasted, chocolate, mint aromas. Flavor is chocolate, roasted and malt, one of the better mint chocolate beers I’ve had.

Very dark brown body with thick khaki head. Nice lacing. Minty, dark chocolate & roast malt aromas. Bittersweet dark chocolate, mint flavors remind me of a hotel pillow mint. Excellent.

Purchased 2012. Pours a deep black with a razor thin tan head. Has a rich chocolate dark roasted caramel malt nose, with some dark fruity notes and slight licorice sweet bitter flavor on the end. The palate is a full rich creamy body with good carbonation, a bit of sticky mouth feel. The finish is sweet chocolate, roasted caramel malt, some mild mint flavor shows up as it warms up, has a lingering kind of sweet chocolate roasted bitterness on the end. Was expecting a bit more mint but could be the aging. Overall a good drinking tasty and full flavored brew.

Very black, not quite as much mint as I expected, plenty of chocolate though.

12oz bottle, served in a snifter glass. One of my favourite of the Stone collaboration beers.

(Backlog) On tap. The look is black in color, dark, and has a tan head. The smell is minty, chocolate, cookies, alcohol, roast, and raisins. The taste is sweet, artificial, minty, and eh.

12oz bottle courtesy of DrSilverworm. Thanks! Deep black body, rusty beige head that fades out a little, but still laces the glass quite well. Really pleasant aroma, doughy cocoa chocolate. The mint is there but it is pretty easy going, which is quite refreshing, to see a new uniquely flavored beer come out and not go overboard with the ingredient showcased. The mint chocolate really works here..quite balanced. Quite a fantastic beer. Quality ingredients fully utilized, expertly brewed. The alcohol is perfectly masked or incorporated...this goes down quite easy....but it is bold enough that you know it is big.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall deep brown head. Aroma of strong mint, chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol, anise and quite a bit of earth and vanilla - fairly nice and sweet smelling. Full-bodied; Rich, roasted malt flavours with heaps of alcohol, mushrooms, soy sauce and earthy flavours with some deep mint, a little sweetness and a touch of anise and spices. Aftertaste shows a lot of bitterness, ranging from the anise and the coffee with some roasted malt and a bunch of alcohol and oak. Overall, a decent beer - but perhaps too strong and too funky of a taste. Not horribly harsh, but not smooth either - even after 13 months. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fairfax, Virginia on 03-November-2012 for US$3.99 sampled at home in Washington a day before returning to the West Coast on 12-December-2013.

Bottle thanks to Will, cheers! Pours a nearly black color, some ruddy edges, with a medium off-white head. The aroma is light mint, chocolates and toasted malts. The flavor is more mint chocolate candies, Andies I think they are called, some fresh coffee, maybe a hint of oxidation (which I like). Quite good.
