A - Pours a dark black with a bit of brown around the edges and a finger of frothy tannish head. The head fades down at a fairly quick pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel and dark caramel malts, oak, vanilla, Bourbon, tequila, chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar, toasted coconuts, dark fruits, Brandy, and a bit of booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of dark caramel malts, vanilla, tequila, dark fruits, and some toasted coconut. Through the middle, the oak, Bourbon, Brandy, chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar, and bit of citrus hop. The finish is a mix of dark caramel malts, dark fruit, oak, vanilla, toasted coconuts, Bourbon, Brandy, Tequila, chocolate, molasses, and booze.
M - Full bodied with mild carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. Amazing blend of flavors. Very complex but still has a great deal of smoothness.

Bottled, sitting at the back of my dwindling personal stash. Like all of the other Firestone Anniversaries, I picked this one up direct from the Paso Robles brewery sometime around Thanksgiving 2012... I think that’s the right year. Color is near-black with slight transparency when held up to light. Beautiful dark copper color around the edges. Low carbonation forms a bubbly tan head and sticky lacing. Aroma is smothered in cherry chocolate, vanilla bean, bourbon and oak. Tanned leather, tobacco and sweet chocolate follow in the flavor, with spicy nutmeg and maple syrup. The flavor is immediately bombarded by the warming character of the barrel liquors. Unbelievably, I think I taste the tequila barrel. As of finishing, I still haven’t decided if this is a good or bad thing. Interesting for sure. Oily mouthfeel, very nice palate. Overall the brandy, bourbon, and tequila notes came through damn strong, maybe just a bit too much for my tastes. Definitely a slow sipper. Not my most favorite of the Firestone Anniversary bunch, but a unique one to remember. The heat could benefit from a few solid years of aging.

Bottle thanks to timfoolery: Poured black with a thin beige colored head. Aroma is vanilla, woodsy, and roasted malts. Strong bourbon bite, vanilla, coffee bean, roasted malts, alcohol burn and hints of chocolate melded with complexity. Finish leaves the tongue dry and tingly.

Bottle, shared with my wife at home while our kid is visiting grandparents. Seems like cause for a nice bottle of beer. "Hoppy or not hoppy?" I ask. "Dark and strong" she replies. I listen, because I’m a good husband. Pours dark with khaki head. Aroma is everything I expect from a FW annivesary. Chocolate, toasted coconut, caramel, toffee, tobacco, cherries. Taste is decadent -- sweet but not cloying, rich, lovely. Full body, silky smooth texture, soft carbonation. Overall: lovely.

5 year vertical! Dark brown pour, aroma is malty, oak, bourbon, a bit of nuttiness, very nice. Taste is fairly sharp, a bit of rum and bourbon, some slight ash, surprisingly shapper than 17.
