I would have never suspected my first 5 would come from a Double IPA, but I’ve gotta hand it to the brewers of Jackie-O’s. This beer does indeed "fucking rule". Poured on draft a few times at Jackie-O’s. Pours a beautifully translucent copper with a creamy, tight nit head of white foam. Great retention, great lacing. The aroma was loaded with tropical fruit notes of papaya, mango, oranges, pineapple...man, that’s how a Double IPA ought to smell. The first sip is pure ambrosia. The tropical fruit sweetness balances perfectly with the higher alpha acids of the Citra hops. Is Citra the perfect hop? I think this showcasing of it makes a strong case for it in my book. Finish is sweet and bitter and sticks with you for a couple moments. I really hope this is a beer added to the regular lineup. I’m sad I couldn’t bring a growler of this home with me.

On tap, Huge Citra aroma, as expected, very smooth citrus taste with some malts. Very nice amber appearance, and a great mouth feel, holds on nicely! Fantastic!

I’m not a huge fan of straight Citra IPAS but this is a pretty good one. Typical Citra dominant nose, light malt presence lasting bitterness. Beautiful looking beer.

Un liquide orangé qui respire l’orange confite, la résine et les sucres. En bouche c’est effectivement très collant et peu amer. Savoureux mais pas de momentum sur la buvabilité.

Growler shared by Joe at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bitter tangerine note with grape fruit and a hint of resin underlying. Flavor has bitter tangerine with a bit of onion and some resin in the finish.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a bright clear dark golden color with a small off white head. Great citrus, tropical and dank hop nose. The flavor has more citrus, orange, some tropical notes, dank, resiny hops with caramel and pale malts, lightly toasted bread. Very nice beer.

Sampled from a growler at rbwg. Almost clear golden. A white layer. All kinds of fruit flavor. Pineapple and tropical fruit. A nice malt is behind that. A bit of spiciness. Some bread. Really nice.

Growler at RBWG Asheville Grand Tasting. Thanks to Joe! Pours clear gold with a bubbly white head. Bright and dank citrus hop aroma, rich orange and grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with buckets of juicy hops, piss and sweat, grapefruit, mango, melon. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Light warmth to finish, moderately dry, plenty of rich melon, grapefruit, light urine, tangerine. Really nice.
