COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed at BrewWharf, bottled at Kernel. This is a one-time-only beer, brewed prior to the closure of BrewWharf for the Americans, during the London Olympics 2012. Brewed from a trove of riches, aka, the hopstore, the beer included Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe and Citra hops, great coffee from Coleman Coffee, (in near by Borough)over great malts from all over the place. We even added some lactose for good measure. If youíre looking for a something rich to sit down too, this may be the one. Brewed to drink, selfishly, not to share in inches. Itís strong, black, smells of coffee and hops. We like it, we hope you do too... lots of love, Angelo and Phil.

Black, no head; aroma of coffee, black chocolate, raisins, dark fruit - smells lush; thick, soft, milky chocolate flavour builds slowly then equally slowly melts away into a piney hop finish; coffee there too, but it tastes more chocolately to me; pehaps some balsamic notes too; oily and full mouthfeel; long, dry finish; great beer on a cold evening ahead of the forecast snowstorm.

Bottle with huge thanks to Colin. Split at the meatball tasting. Pours dark brown with a dirty tan head. Nose is loaded with espresso bitterness, dark cacao, dirt, lactose and pine. Itís a bit all over the shop but Iím really liking it. The lactose gives it a creamy mildly sweet feel, some soy like nuttiness, orange zest and dirty earth with dry cacao very prominent. Absolutely pine driven hops smashing the palate. Bitterness is astringent and in your face right on the finish. Great depth and length. A damn fine and very interesting beer

Bottle donated by Phil - fine guy with fine beers. Thank you ! Thick and dark with it black look. No head, wonderfully mild and balanced carbo. Rich of aromas conatining lots of coffee, roasted malt, really ripe fruits and a nice aftertouch of lambic. The final aftermath offers plums with fine balanced sourness. Great one.

Beer from Phil - many thanks! Pours out in a deep black colour with no head and oily-smooth body. Aroma is very intense of dark roasted coffee, bitter chocolate and malt. Wonderful taste of roasted coffee beans, espresso, chocolate, malt, roasted barley, torf and woods. Deep and complex body with a very intense finish. Enjoyed it a lot.

Bottled in 2012, one of a thousand, into a snifter. Black, small brown ring of foam. Aroma - molasses, pine, mint, sherbert. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is coffee, pine hops (strong like in a high-end IPA), hazelnut, a bit alcoholic with a dry salty finish. Lovely.

2013-01-31. Oily black body, small brown head fades. Aroma of dark malt and moderate alcohol, dark fruit and sugars. Flavour is rich, fairly bitter throughout but with sugary malt underpinnings and a dark fruity malt character that lingers. Medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. Bit simple but rich and enjoyable. [Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry] Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a small fizzy light brown head. Almost oily looking. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, some dark fruit and lots of leafy hops. Syrupy flavour, quite hoppy and a bit alcoholic, along with coffee and chocolate. Long dry bitter finish. Full bodied. An interesting beer and a very good one.

combined - my 330ml bottle shared with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - and my memories of the bottle I drank with Ang at BW in August 2013. Thick, oily black with a small tan head. Aroma is huge - deep choco/coffee roast bitterness, hint of plum, mineral sharpness and some bitterness trying to emerge - wow, quite the aroma. Taste follows, a bit boozy, starting to pull apart a bit, more blackstrap molasses and bitterness, less chocolate - surprisingly bitter, really. Thick, syrupy, a little still, longer building herbal bitterness emerges to balance out the huge roast malt. Creamy, damned good, even after all this time.

Lovely roast rich chocolate truffle nose in the bottle which quickly disappears once poured. Thinning rich glossy beige brown head& glossy black body. Fullish but not thick bodies, This is a bit of a dancer on the tongue. Opens out from the centre. Relatively long with some complexity and sap, chocolate and earth with a relatively long chalky finnish. Not bad.

Deep dark brown with a tan bubbly somewhat lasting, lacy head. Nice roast smell, berries, raisins, and dark malt. Nice deep caramel. Medium thin body. Tastes of dark malt, with raisins, sweet caramel, and a bitter salty, soya sauce finish. Nice but a bit salty.

Bottle courtesy of Zer0. Poured a rich oily deep mahogany with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is big marmite malt coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour is strong bitter with a creamy malt liqourice light hop palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation and a long bitter finish. A lovely smooth oily mouthfeel.
