4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2013 Too similar to Black Tuesday to warrant a different review. Hazelnuts are faint at best. Pretty hot as well.

Bottle - Pours deep brown with no head. Nose is boozy, sweet, and sharp. Real sweet vanilla and brown sugar is about all I can get. Taste is real sharp and roasty with vanilla and bourbon. You can really taste the 19.2%. Slick, thick, and no carbonation. I could barely finish my small sample of this. What a terrible beer.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nose of hazelnuts, bourbon and chocolate and alcohol. Pour is thinner than expected. Head is gone instantly, but leaves a thin ring all the way down the glass. Taste is sweet with slight notes of hazelnut chocolate brownie and a small amount of bourbon. Lingers forever on the palate with roundness from the high abv, whisk is the best part of this beer.

On tap at BT event. One of my favorites. Had no head but was a dk chocolate color. Aroma was nutty and slight caramel and oaky notes. Taste was nutty and chocolate with a slight burn in the finish. Med body...not too syrupy, but you will feel it later. All in all I am excited for this years offering!

Tap at Woodshop 8. Pours a full haze amber brown. Lower foam. Nose is vanilla, rich barrel, soft bourbon. Taste is spicy, sweet maple, nice hazelnut but not too intense, spicy alcohol, loads of sugar. Too sweet for me.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml waxed bottle. Thanks kegbear!!! wow this badboy pours a nice deep brown with a tiny bit of head that immediately dissipates. Aroma is really hazlenutty like a good flavored coffee. A hint of alcohol in it as well. The initial taste is some hot booze but then as it warms it mellows into a delicious nutty taste, this beer reminds a lot of Nutella. You can feel the alcohol in your throat and stomach but not really taste it. Wow damn delicious. Would definitely drink again if I could get my hands on it but thats doubtful since I am not a member of the Reserve Society. Once again The Bruery knocks it out of the park

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml grey waxed bottle served in a Funky Buddha snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown color with semi-clear edges. Very minimal tan head forms on the pour and recedes to nothing.
S: Overt alcohol with some dark fruits and a little chocolate. Light nuttiness and cocoa from the hazelnuts.
T: Same as the nose. The nuttiness and the cocoa-like flavors from the hazelnuts are inviting, but the alcohol heat and medicinal flavors that stem from it is quite the turn off. Fair amount of oak and chocolate as well. Sweet caramel.
M: Medium to heavy bodied with a slick and oily mouthfeel. High alcohol heat on the back end.
O: The alcohol was too noticeable and it was just one dimensional in the sweetness. The best part of this beer was the smell of the wax, unfortunately.

Wowie. Many thanks to Dave for sharing his bottle. Aroma of butterscotch, chocolate, brandy, bourbon, tootsie rolls, and vanilla. Pours sticky dark brown and hazy with no head or carbonation (none expected). Taste is like a rich candy bar: caramel, brandy, vanilla bean, milk chocolate, and hazelnut cookie. Very hot so look out. Gets sweeter and hotter as it warms. This is about as close to tasting like Utopias as Iíve ever tasted. A rare treat!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours into the tulip glass with no head and no apparent carbonation. The beer is a rich brown color, and is definitely not black like one might expect of an Imperial Stout of this strength. The aroma is hot alcohol at first, but I can actually smell the hazelnut notes quite well from a distance. There is a lot of nuttiness to the nose up front, with supporting notes of chocolate, hints of coffee syrup, and lots of sweet, sugary aromatics. As the beer warms up it almost has a sherry like quality to it (the hazelnuts like accentuate this), still lots of alcohol, and even some cocoa character.
The taste is quite sweet with lots of hazelnut syrup flavors and then towards the finish the expected, expressive, hot alcohol. There is a light carbonation here, more than I was expecting given the appearance. The body is syrupy and thick, but with all the alcohol this is not nearly as thick as one would expect. There is some spice character from the Bourbon in the finish, it helps to dry the finish out just a bit, though not really; flavors of spicy oak, and tongue lingering spiciness are noticeable, but the barrel character is really muted by the alcohol, the sweetness, and the hazelnut flavors that form the dominant notes in this beer.
This is actually pretty good, it is a rich desert beer for sure, and should be drunk in very small amounts. This is nicer than I was expecting, but it still has a bit too much of an alcoholic kick to it; perhaps some extended aging will smooth this out, though I would guess that the hazelnut character might drop out too.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great aroma, bakers chocolate, nutty hazelnut like in a Guatemalan coffee, some bourbon, lots of alcohol.
Dark cola appearance, lighter than you expect but plenty dark. Touch of fizz.
Taste is monster imperial stout, some booze, vanilla, bourbon, creme brulee, chocolate and hazelnut. More booze in the finish.
Some booze but not abusive to the palate, rich and thick but balanced by alcohol level. A little bit thinner than port or sherry but has a similar effect.
Richer than Black Tuesday, thicker too, but not overly so. A little more body and sweetness bring some of the more complex flavors back compared to the regular Black Tuesday, and the hazelnut fits in real nicely. Ultimately it is still intensely boozy and only good for about 2-3oz.
