COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

I’ve been enjoying Maudite for years. Must be served cool not cold. Makes a huge difference bread, dough, hazy, amber, minimal head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, fizzy, long finish,

Mahogany in color with a tall khaki head. Lovely spice aroma with lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. Moderate banana and some nice dark fruits, mostly raisin and black cherry. Great malt sweetness, too. The flavor is nicely sweet without being cloying. Great toffee and caramel along with the dark fruit and spice character. The nutmeg and clove notes really come through and are quite enjoyable.

Pours a cloudy copper. Light tan head that quickly dissipates (maybe my choice of glassware). Very yeasty nose with ample spice and dried fruit (date, fig.) Palate echoes the nose. Attacking carbonation and a very dry finish. My fist Unibroue product and I’m anxious to try many more.

Smooth start, long finish. Similar to fin du monde but not as sweet. One of my favorites

Pours a hazy amber with lots of off white head. Aroma is very yeasty, with some citrus. Taste is much like it smells, very yeasty, distinct Belgian ale flavor with a lot more spice than usual. Cinnamon, clove, banana bread. Pretty complex goes down easy, but its not to light. Really great stuff. This biggest thing i noticed was the cinnamon, very unique.

A spicy, sticky version of one of my favourite styles. Overall a bit too sweet for me, especially in aroma, and not as complex as I’d like to see for a Belgian Strong. Still, though, a beer I’d love to feed lagerboys.

Pour medium brown, average and typical Belgian strong ale aroma. Taste is also typical, moderately complex. Decent, but not impressive.

Pours a hazy amber with a large off white head. The aroma has notes of fruit, caramel and candy with a light sweet taste. The palate has a oily texture and average carbonation. Over all a great beer, and a good refreshing drink.

Slightly cloudy, brown pour with a hint of orange. No head. Very nice fruity aroma. Many different red and dark fruits. A very nice complex fruity taste but the finish is extremely dry. Overall, not as good as Trois Pistoles but still pretty good.
