Huhuhuhuhuhuh, man this beer was ridonkulous. Soft pale blonde pour with one finger of white head. The nose is just nuts, incredibly strong/intense. You can smell it from several feet away. Lots of fresh fruit/citrus, tropical fruit, very juicy. Intensely hoppy and grassy with tons of raw tropical fruit in the flavor. Wonderful mouthfeel palate/soft light-medium body with a moderate and zesty bitterness. Fuh-hantastic beer.

2014-08-15. Hazy dark yellow body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma of citrusy hops, lemony notes. Flavour is nice, similar hoppy lemon citrus. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Quite nice, crisp bright hop character. Bottle at Campground Brewdown

Galaxy Unicorn - Pipeworks Brewing Double IPA 9.5% ABV APPEARANCE: Pours a murky, hazy orange with golden peach hues. Unfiltered but not finding any sediment in the initial pour. Big sudsy off white head that stuck around for the long haul. Leaving nice lacing all around the glass as it slowly dissipated. AROMA: Big burst of over ripe oranges, grapefruit rind. Followed by a tropical cereal like aroma. Almost like that Special K with the dried fruit in it. Tons of hoppy, floral notes with a slight spicy earthiness. Backend grassy, slightly catty. Very interesting and inventing bouquet on this beer. TASTE: Wow I new the nose had fruit on it but the taste it's a tropical fruit bomb! Fresh, juicy, ripe tangerines, pineapples even a bit of berry flavor. Toasted warm bread with honey butter on it. For sure getting some heat from the ABV but I actually enjoy that especially when it's balanced out with the big bitterness from all those hops. MOUTHFEEL: Medium creamy body with a nice medium carbonation. Nice lingering oily finish. Super drinkable for a 9.5%. OVERALL: This was my first pipeworks beer I thought it was outstanding I really enjoyed the galaxy hops flavor profile. The addition of wheat was very interesting as well. I found that all the sweet fruits where balanced nicely and not over powering at all. RATING: 4.5/5 Zombie Heads! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Got in a trade with TheFugitive. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/26/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of smooth pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel/rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Outstanding complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a nice crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome single hopped DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Location: Draft at Map Room, 7/16/14, Rating #3800!

Aroma: This one has a nice resin/pine hop nose, with some tropical fruity hops too
Appearance: It pours an orange color with a creamy off-white head and some solid lace
Flavor: The taste of this beer is much the same as the nose, with a really nice hop presence to it
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a creamy mouthfeel, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: Found this one to be really quite enjoyable. A very nice beer. I am glad to have tried as much Pipeworks stuff as I have on various trips to Chicago, and I look forward to trying more of their stuff.

Very crisp, clean, and flavorful. Nice citrus, grass, and pine flavors and some slight earthiness with subtle hints of orange and grapefruit zest. Not overly sweet which is nice.

Pours cloudy apricot with low white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, peach, light apricot, light vanilla. Taste is very hop intense initially, crisp and piney, before fruit sweet (again, apricot and peach comes to mind) sets in, then the lingering massive bitter finish kicks in. Body is surprisingly light, smooth and slightly oily at the same time, with average carbonation.
