750 into stemmed tulip. Shared with a few friends after a trip to the brewpub. Pours an opaque black with a very minimal tan head that really only is visible when swirling the glass. First aroma is lots of bourbon. Taste is a lot of smooth bourbon, the flavor is very strong but doesn’t have the alcohol burn that is found in fresh bourbon county. Some subtitle notes of coffee and chocolate are mostly covered up by the overwhelming bourbon flavors. Finish fades very gradual over a long time. Fairly thick consistency, syrupy mouth feel. Thicker than just about everything but regular dark lord. I’ve had several bourbon stouts (many at FOBAB) and this ranks up there with the best. This is a truly excellent beer. $50 is pretty steep, but this is one you will not regret trying.

Woodshed 2.0. Bottle share courtesy of dak. It pours with a murky mahogany body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up musty sweet molasses, smooth toffee nuanced bourbon, more molasses and then boozy chocolate brownie at the end of the draw. Dang that smells good. The taste delivers a great mix of boozy chocolate brownie, smooth sweet sugary fudge and dark roasted malts. Wow! This is a terrific rich sipper that I would really enjoying nursing all night long. Yes!

Bottle at the DL Vertical Tasting in the cellar of Chez Moeder Lambic Saint-Gilles. Thank you Dennoman. Hard to believe what the commercial description says - this beer writes DL all over, no characteristics of the other beers noticeable. Pours dark dark brown, oily consistency, no head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, toffee, soy sauce. Thock body with low carbonation, taste is a bourbon bomb with accents of chocolate and vanilla. Nothing more than average.

Bottle @ The Crazy Belgian Tasting. Deep brown pour with hardly any head. The nose is deep, rich bourbon, caramel candy, vanilla and chocolate. Big, fat roast malt flavor profile. Quite sludgy. Mildly ashy and slightly bitter. Hot oaky bourbon and chocolate brownie. Full body, thick. Overall, merely OK. Just a bit flabby.

Bottle shared by dak at Woodshed 2.0! How is this just a barrel-aged version of Baller? Oh, what 14 months in a barrel can do to a beer! Rich, complex, decadent with bourbon, oak, vanilla, brownie batter, molasses, and fudge finding their way to the palate. Dark as night and as creamy as a good chowder. This one coats and its one you want to remember! Great brew!
