Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness.

Good looking brew, black as night with a nice brown head and good lacing. Smells great. Good roasty and burnt aromas of roasted barley, a little sweet malt character. Taste wise this is one of the best stouts Iíve had in a long time, itís downright fantastic. Great burnt, smoky and roasty character, a bit of chocolate, great coffee flavors, and a bold hoppiness that add just the right amount of bitterness. Body is also wonderful, very thick and rich, acrid bitter and roasted barley aftertaste, perfect amount of carbonation. For a pretty low ABV American stout this beer has incredibly big body and flavor. This beer is just fantastic. Deschutes continues to impress me every time I try another one of their delicious beers.

Great dark color, cream head that thickly climbs to side of glass stickily. Deep, rich malt smell. Strong oatmeal flavor upfront that passes and mellows, slowly into chocolate notes. Fantastic specimen.

Bottle from Favourite Beer, Cheltenham. Advent beer day 1. Black colour with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma us roasted and toasty malt. Taste chocolate and roasted bitterness, with a sweet finish.

Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with thin tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma and taste of earthy hop, roasted malt, and fruity yeast esters. Really nice, easy drinking stout.

Pours black with tan head; nice sticky lacing. Aromas of coffee, cocoa, and molasses. Flavor is very similar; dark chocolate, espresso, licorice, and molasses. Would definitely recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours deep brown to black. Robust, slow-receding beige head. Noticeable alcohol aroma with bright fruit and caramel. Roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor. Warming finish, slightly dry and bitter. Straightforward and clean. A touch high on alcohol for a stout, but not quite overpowering.

Pours opaque cola-brown-to-black with a 1-finger caramel-colored head. Aroma of dark-roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate. Body is medium-to-full. A touch oily, with a dry finish. Flavor of coffee, with a bit of char at the back.

Rich flavor but not as much coco or coffee as I would like. I'll for sure buy again though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with a tight beige head that holds up well. Coffee, roast, liquorice aromas. Taste is sweetish, molasses, coffee, cocoa, a little creamy mouthfeel, finishes like iced coffee

Heavily roasted malts, toasted grains and dry coffee. Notes of toffee, brown sugar and light cream. Moderate/strong bitterness.

Pours a black colour with a medium tan-coloured head. The aroma is of coffee and roasted malt. The taste is slightly of roasted malt and ethanol, but mostly of hops with a moderate bitterness that is long lasting on the palate. Overall, a reasonably good quality beer.
