4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a clear very dark brown, nearly opaque. Topped by a huge billowy off-white head that keeps growing thanks to the abundant carbonation. Some of the best head retention I have every seen.
Aroma has lots of dark fruit such as figs and cherries layered on top of wood. Hints of pipe tobacco along with wet grass and hay. A little bit of light cocoa underneath.
The flavor really has tons going on. Like in the aroma, dark fruit predominantly up front consisting largely of cherries and figs. A decent woody note is present along with a little bit of must although it nicely compliments the other flavors. Grass comes in next along with a moderate, cleansing bitterness. The beer finishes dry on the palate with bitterness lingering long after all other flavors depart.
Overall, a truly complex and amazing beer. There is really so much going on here and the flavors change as the beer warms. One of the classics.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
0,33L bottle, BB 24.06.2015. Pours dark brown with off white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, fresh fruits, apples, yeast, and malt. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, caramel, candy, and malt. Finish has some bitterness and tart. Overall: lovely beer and I’m sure it gets better over time. I would really love to try aged version one day.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. I had looked at this for a long time and not pulled the trigger in lieu of other beers, so now is as good a time as any. Pours a cloudy brown with a large tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma and flavor have caramel malts, brown sugar, candi sugar, dark fruit, some banana, with a mild bittering component. Medium-bodied, sweet and malty. I like Rochefort, Westvleterren and some of the other traditional breweries better.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured a cloudy brown with quite a bit of head. Candy sugar and cloves come across in the nose. Same flavors are present in the mouth as well where a nice medium bodied beer goes down quite easily. Other flavors include some fruit and a slight spicy tang.
