4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a clear very dark brown, nearly opaque. Topped by a huge billowy off-white head that keeps growing thanks to the abundant carbonation. Some of the best head retention I have every seen.
Aroma has lots of dark fruit such as figs and cherries layered on top of wood. Hints of pipe tobacco along with wet grass and hay. A little bit of light cocoa underneath.
The flavor really has tons going on. Like in the aroma, dark fruit predominantly up front consisting largely of cherries and figs. A decent woody note is present along with a little bit of must although it nicely compliments the other flavors. Grass comes in next along with a moderate, cleansing bitterness. The beer finishes dry on the palate with bitterness lingering long after all other flavors depart.
Overall, a truly complex and amazing beer. There is really so much going on here and the flavors change as the beer warms. One of the classics.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Westmalle Dubbel’s aging and complexity really do bring out the goods. With its sediment, brown body, and slightly rocky head, this ale is attractive in the way that only Abbey Ales can pull off. Aroma gives you an idea of the awesomeness to come. Banana, plum, and champagne-like yeast brightness. Flavor has the aforementioned fruits with apple and grape, as well. There’s also a candy-like sweetness and subtle hop tones. Carbonation is just right - not too lively, not flat. Fruity, nuanced, and dry, Westmalle Dubbel is everything you’d want/expect from a Belgian export.

Coloração castanho com espuma clara. Aroma frutado, doce, típico de dubbel. Sabor também característico adocicado mas ao mesmo tempo frutado e alcoolico. Gostei

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A- Ripe dark fruits, bananas, subtle spice, caramel, champagne.
A- Brown color, cloudy liquid, tan head.
T- Dark fruits, plum, banana, subtle spice, caramel.
P- Medium body, average texture, high carbonation, soft effervescent finish.
O- Didn’t live up to the hype for me but a solid beer. Lots of dark fruit flavors and aromas and not overpowering. A little high on the carbonation, and almost felt like drinking soda at times although as it warmed this settled down.

11.2 oz. bottle from Party Time Liquors in Spearfish. Appearance: 2 fingers tan to light chocolate head, copper red color, light cloudy, ok lacing. Aroma: earthy molasses, dark fruitiness, grassy hops. Palate: average carbonation, dry finish, medium body. Taste: sweet malty molasses, into earthy dark fruit sweetness, with grassy hops balancing the sweet, finishing slightly bitter with lingering fruit notes. Overall, very good, super drinkable, amazing balance, very well done beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good classic double. Nice deep dark with a fluffy off white head and soft lively carbonation. I like that it is not too sweet. Flavors are well balanced. Noting is dominant. It is yeast, malt sweetness and some burned malts, caramel and fruits and hops. Alcohol is hidden. Body is light and refreshing for such a dark beer. Acessible easy to drink.

Bottle - deep ruby red with a light brown fizzy head that slowly fades to a small ring. Aroma of roast malt, earth, spices, grass, followed by rich coffee, vanilla and some bubblegum. Taste of malts - roasty and peppery, with notes of clove and bubblegum. Rich and sweet. Medium body, high carbonation.
