750ml bottle 2010 (#404 of 500) from an awesome BA trader. Pours dark brown almost black with a dense, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dates, coffee, vanilla and dark roasted malt. Flavor is rich decadent chocolate fudge, bitter roasted coffee, boozy vanilla and some dark fruit. Full body with mild carbonation and a thick, lush mouth feel. Outstanding beer, roasty and lots of rich and chocolate flavors without being overly sweet.

Why would I wake up at 5am and leave manhattan and drive to the end of long island in January? Well for beer of course in particular this one. Pours rich dark brown, with huge milkshake thick head. Great nose of dark fruit and chocolate. I get tastes of chocolate, coffee, earth, plums, roasted barley, and vanilla. Great palate and slight boozy finish. Wonderful.

2010 Vintage
Tasted on 1/6/12 from a capped 750mL bottle obtained in a trade. Pours an oily, nearly black dark brown with an average brown head that slowly recedes to fairly thick, bubbly lace. The nose is pretty muted, with a hint of celery salt, milk chocolate, and a savory dark roasted aroma. The flavor is more milk and dark chocolate than the nose, with some coffee bitterness, and the same smokey, savory roast. The body is full and creamy with light, smooth carbonation and a long bitter coffee and smokey savory roasted finish.

Another big thanks to Ryan for letting me pull this out of his cellar. #188/500. Super dark color, jet black and oily. Aroma has faded some but there are still noticeable hints of charred chocolate and slight bourbon. Was very happy I got to try this one.

Fuck yeah. Dark roast, chocolate sweetness, smoke, beef jerky on the nose. Brown sugar, molasses, burnt roast, a touch of over ripe dark fruits. Intriguing. Pours black with a nice brown head that settles to a ring. Flavors start salty and smokey, lots of dark roast, coffee, earthy bitterness. Dry roasted earthiness in the back palate, piney bitter. Medium to slightly higher than medium carbonation. Drinks incredibly well. One of the best imperial stouts I have ever had.
