4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
By far one of my favorite beers, the sweetness of the flavor came as an incredible surprise. The floral hop aroma deceives you into thinking it will be a bitter beer, but it is anything but. With subtle notes of marmalade in the taste, and a cognac liquor finish, this beer is surprisingly delicious.

For such an outrageous beer, I have to give Dogfish Head credit for making this as drinkable and tasty as it is. Very happy I finally got to try it!

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
I have enjoyed pretty much every dogfish beer I have had but I just really don't understand aging an IPA. This beer leaves me with all the flavors of an IPA I dislike and removes all the hops and flavors I enjoy.

I’ve had this on tap and in bottle. Probably one of my favorite of the high abv beers. Doesn’t really pass off as an ipa, it’s smooth and sweet with little bite. Mix this with world wide stout for an awesome black and tan.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 2/28/2013. Pours very hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, lemon peel, pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, citrus rind, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, lemon peel, pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, citrus rind, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon peel/rind, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness and spicy alcohol on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky, and lightly creamy/slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with a light-moderate warmth lingering after the finish with zero booziness. Overall this is an outstanding DIPA, especially considering the ABV. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. Extremely surprised and impressed with this vintage, as there is still a ton of hop complexity present and it does not feel overly heavy or malty at all; even after being nearly 3 years old. Other vintages I have had at similar age have been much sweeter and a bit cloying. A highly enjoyable offering.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 07.22.15. Poured on 12.06.15. A: Orange, lemon, peaches, caramel, and apricot. A: 1/2 finger head settles down to a ring and a thin white coating. Hazy amber body. T: Orange, lemon, peaches, caramel, and apricot all dominate. Lots of alcohol heat, but that is to be expected. P: Smooth and syrupy. O: It’s good, but doesn’t reach the level established by the hype.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Guest brew on tap at Chain O’ Lakes. Aroma is citrus and malt. I was expecting massive bitterness here but found it to extremely smooth, hints of tropical fruit throughout. The alcohol was very well hidden by the complex flavors. Definitely a slippery. No doubt, this is the best IPA I’ve ever had, and one of the best overall.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

Crap, I really was hoping I didn’t like this beer this much because I can’t get it in Missouri. Very over powering booze smell up front, the taste is smooth. It’s perfect w a good burn, and fantastic after taste. Great lingering earth/leaf taste. I can see why its hard to get. Thx Brandon S. for the bottle.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.
