COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Huge malty, alcohol forward nose - powerful and rich. Beautiful golden brown color. Tastes like a tawny port in a beer bottle. For being 120 IBU and supposedly the hoppiest beer in the world, it isn't really that hoppy. The high alcohol really rounds it out and brings more oaky, malty flavors. I did age it for about six months, so perhaps that toned down the sharpness a bit (although when I first had it on tap, I noticed the same thing). Maybe next time I'll try one fresh. An outstanding drink - however you want to classify it.

Orange brown amber pour some tan head. Aroma pine orange hops, grainy caramel malt. Tastes buttery bready malts, big booze, tangerine hops. mouthfeel is the biggest suprise - it’s light enough to drink the whole bottle. crisp carb helps. It’s like a hoppy pilsner cross with a barleywine. Not as complex as a barleywine though.

Bottled. Darker shade of amber. Smell of.....hops, but not so juicy. Bit more of a caramel malt core to this than to others but really quite good. 11 bucks a bottle good? Nope.

12 oz bottle poured into ipa glass. Coppery orange in color, murky hue with a thick off white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Aromas of booze, almost a moonshine similarity, pine, finished sweet with a floral aroma and oranges and grapefruits. Flavors of bitter hops, clear liquor, sap, lemon and finished by a balanced caramel sweetness. Very thick on the palate, with an intense bitter bite at the end finished by a warning booziness. Keeping one on deck to age.

Tap at Beer Mongers, Seattle. Kegged Aug 2014. Colour is very cloudy light orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, tropical fruits, peach, hops, alcohol and malts. Not so glueish I would have expected. Drinkability bad but much better than expected. Probably after 1-2 years in bottle this will be horrible.

Aged 2013 (drank in 2015). Pours a light gold. Has one of the strongest aromas I’ve smelled in a beer with a strong floral. A powerful taste with grapefruit and some floral hops. A lingering but not overpowering hop aftertaste.

Bottle, 2015 vintage. Hazy amber orange with a small beige head. Aromas of candied orange, caramel, toasted malt, pine and earthy notes. Flavor is caramel, maple syrup, candied citrus, earthy notes, toasted malt, and light wood. Full bodied, syrupy with a hot finish.

På fat Pickle bar Brooklyn. Klassiskt rostfärgad Dipa. Fiin Dipa doft , lite vanilj?. Mycket fyllig smak rätt igenom från början till slut. Aprikos tydligt inslag åh jävligt balanserad. Lagom kolsyrad. Varm känsla i munnen å fin eftersmak. Tappar lite när den blivit lite varmare i glaset. Sjukt kunna göra en DIPA på 18% åh den smakar Dipa inte vin. Ja när man läser om ölen är den ju sjukt fylld av humle. Liksom tryckt i åh lagrat å tryckt i än mer mm mm. Häftigt

Pours a clear golden hue with an small, off white head which floats around for a while. Caramel and pine dominate the nose. Huge caramel up front leading into pine sap, bready wheat and a wave of bitterness with an alcohol undertone. Full bodied with ample carbonation. It’s crazy how drinkable this beer is. A really awesome beer.

Bottle shared with my wife, picked it up at Consumer’s Beverages Niagara. Pours a classic copper, about a finger and a half of white head, that dies to nothing short of a ring, leaving some lacy specks. Nose is obviously hoppy, tropical, more piney sap. It wasn’t the blast I was expecting to get. Tastes surprisingly balanced, it’s malty sweet, with some caramel notes, hoppy and bitter with some heat from the booze and a little bit of a tongue number which I don’t know if it’s the Abv or the hops. I was stoked to finally sample this, and would gladly have again if I could find on draft or a more reasonably priced bottle.

On tap at hop cat. Second time having this on tap. Super intense but pretty well balanced given that. Tastes almost like a wine. One of a kind ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
