4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle (330ml from Peckhams, Glasgow):
Lots of depth to it and plenty going on. Starting with some dark fruits, mainly raisin and plum along with a lot of spice and some burnt sugar. There is some alcohol to begin with and some chocolate with a bit of caramel too.
Dark brown colour that has maroon tinges in it and is topped with a bubbly tan head that starts about a thumbs width tall and halves in size where it stays for upwards of a couple of minutes.
Dark fruit and a lot of sweetness; there is dates, plum, raisins and sugar to name but a few. There is also maybe just a slight bit too strong an alcohol burn from it towards the end.
Medium bodied and very smooth indeed with medium to strong carbonation, a lot of spice and great depth with some alcohol but this is hidden well for the most part.
Almost perfect beer, if only it were ever so slightly weaker in the alcohol department it could be classed as unbeatable. It had it all, a great mix of flavours and with plenty going on and a huge alcohol content that was hidden a lot better than I would have imagined.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from The bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a deep brown colour with a frothy off white head. Aroma of blackcurrant, plum, raisin, some cherry, slight bready malts, chocolate, a little cola, a hint of liquorice, Belgian yeast and subtle spice. Taste of blackcurrant, plum, cola, some chocolate, raisin, slight liquorice, spice, a little cherry, a hint of brown sugar and subtle herbal hops. Full bodied and slick texture. A powerfully long, fruity, spicy bitterness in the finish. Another wonderfully complex Belgian quad, lovely fruity flavours and lots of spiciness. Quite alcoholic and sweet at times but so flavourful. Best Belgian beer I’ve had so far.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Darkest of all Trappistes Rochefort. Strong carbonation, mouthfeel divine. Very complex and deep taste and aroma, but not heavy. Superb balance. Syrup bread - which is the trade mark reserved just to the world class in this type of beers. Hallelujah! Would like to marry my son in the family of the brewer.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
More or less the gold standard for quality in beer, it’s an amazing brew indeed, with so much going on (not least of which is the healthy 11.3% kick). Could be slightly more rounded in terms of mouthfeel but any criticism here is like mortals tossing pebbles at gods.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma: plum, raisin, high alcohols.
Appearance: hazy deep brown color and beige head.
Taste: really warming alcohol, peachy, roasted dark malts, red fruits, plum, champagne notes (strange), black currant, quite dry.
Palate: full body and medium carbonation, fruit finish.
Overall: Really interesting stuff, for me alcohol is to high and even slightly rough.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This beer is what they say it is. Rich and complex. The strength though lies in its subtlety. The tastes and smells aren’t "in your face", its all smooth and well, subtle.
This makes this beer to me one of the very best.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Cóż powiedzieć, belgijski klasyk, w mojej opinii lepszy niż Westvletteren XII i St.Sixtus Abt.
Aromat karmelowy, dobrego winnego alkoholu (madera?), potężne drożdże. W smaku "trapistowskie" gruszki i jabłka, śliwka, marcepan, trochę banana i wanilii.
Majstersztyk.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours rasin, dark amber with tan head. The aroma is really fruity. Plums, figs, bubblegum, raisins. The flavor is sweet with plum, fig, sugar, caramel. Body is medium, overall very sweet well balanced witht the alcohol.
