COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

A new founded taste for Belgian beers and indeed strong beers lead me on a persuit to find this beast of a beer. I found it on Cask on Liverpool Road in Manchester and when I initially tried it, Iíd had a few pints already so felt I couldnít fully appreciate it, so I went back a week later to try again. From the moment you start pouring this, it is just irresistable, the dark colour with a tan head, the nose of raisins, figs, cherries, sugars, alcohol, its mind blowing. It feels like a very naughty treat, its dangerously good and dangerously strong, you wouldnít guess its an 11.3% beer until you begin to get up and walk after it. Flavour of raisins, dates, bit of plum, maybe chocolate malt. A lively carbonation keeps up with the flavours, it is a pure delight to drink and at £4.80 a bottle (Iíve seen prices over £6 elsewhere) a total bargain.

One of the best beers Iíve had in along time. Picked it up at Woodmans grocery and very happy I did. Has a very smooth taste and great aftertaste too.

I used to drink this every weekend @ The Man Of Kent pub in Rochester ..with Hazel, Ronny, Frederica and the gang ... I had to start a weekend with either this or the 8 . Iíve drank some most recently as the other day and rerated it on the pad ... A powerful nose ...raisins covered in chocolate , brandy , bready malts , spice of coriander accents , a bit of floral hops .. A very dark brooding nose . Pours out deep ass brown with a khaki head resembling the bottle lable . This is an intense palate ...Very very rich , with notes of milk chocolate upfront , raisins , bread and tangy black bruised bananas ..the texture shifts toward dry bitterness ,almost in the accent of tart plums ... then changes directions to leave you with a long kiss of deep creamy boozy softness ... So complex and interesting . I like the 8 more but thatís just me . A really good beer !

33 cl bottle, shared. Dark brown color. Light beige (mocha-colored) head. Aromaís: sweet, dark malts, chocolate, raisins. Retronasal itís sweet, raisins, dark sugar, light red fruit. Flavor is sweet, malty, with some chocolate. Strong alcohol feel, warming. Medium bodied, but certainly not thick. Long finish with no new flavors.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, bottled on 16/9/2014. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, very creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Beautiful! Lovely, sweetish-fruity aroma of plums, raisins, figs, cherries, cane sugar, nuts and a bit of red wine. Very intense, sweetish-fruity taste of prunes, raisins, figs, dates, toffee, nuts and dark chocolate. Long, minimally bitter, pleasant but rather alcoholic and warming finish with a bit of whiskey. Full body, phenomenally creamy, lively carbonation. World-class brew with a wide range of flavours, maybe unexpectedly a bit shy with its aroma. Fantastic creaminess and very round, though. Huge!

Brown color, taste of a lot of dried fruit/plums and a bit of spice, carbonated, a bit of alcohol but so little for how much there is. As noted by most, a world class beer. There are some Trappist beers I prefer but this is of the top. Pretty easy to find as well for me.

Dark brown, with a soap film head. Aromas are very pronounced breads, yeasts, malts, and grains. A moderately viscous mouth feel. There are plums, red fruit peels, and figs in the tastes. A definite alcohol presence in the back of the throat, especially the warmer it gets.

Magnifica.

Pours a dark beige head with aromas of candy and chocolate toffee and light honey. Dark bottle brown body. Not hazy if bottle not poured entirely. Thick in mouth and very long. Malt leads to chocolate again. One of my favorites for red meat and cheeses. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
