COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

A new founded taste for Belgian beers and indeed strong beers lead me on a persuit to find this beast of a beer. I found it on Cask on Liverpool Road in Manchester and when I initially tried it, I’d had a few pints already so felt I couldn’t fully appreciate it, so I went back a week later to try again. From the moment you start pouring this, it is just irresistable, the dark colour with a tan head, the nose of raisins, figs, cherries, sugars, alcohol, its mind blowing. It feels like a very naughty treat, its dangerously good and dangerously strong, you wouldn’t guess its an 11.3% beer until you begin to get up and walk after it. Flavour of raisins, dates, bit of plum, maybe chocolate malt. A lively carbonation keeps up with the flavours, it is a pure delight to drink and at £4.80 a bottle (I’ve seen prices over £6 elsewhere) a total bargain.

È la mia birra trappista preferita. Forte come gradazione, odore tipico di una ale belga.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2015 330 mL bottle poured into a goblet. The aroma is initially a bright cherrywood note with a touch of smokiness and a light resin quality. This aroma blends into a port wine note consisting of an alcohol touch with fruity flare - tart cherry, plum, strawberry, and a light banana note - with undertones of buttery pie crust and brown sugar. It’s a murky opaque dark cherry brown with a dense foam, tan head that retains a medium-thick ring and a solid, soft foam surface, and leaves only a light, but dense wisp, lacing on the glass. The taste is a medium high bittersweet port wine. The texture is thick and oily with an abundant fuzzy carbonation to smooth things out. The body is full with lots of plum and raisin notes as well as a woody feel. There’s a mellow and smooth wine warmth at the finish with toffee, sweet cherry, and plum flavors. The aftertaste is dry and clean with a toffee and spice touch.

Appearance: dark beer with a nice off-white head. Aroma: bitter, malt, dark fruits and a bit of coffee/chocolate. Taste: very deep with lots of different flavors. Starts slightly bitter and grows to a sweet dark fruit.

J’ai beau en goûter d’autres très bonnes, la rochefort 10 reste pour moi le top du top, qui convient en beaucoup de circonstances.

Bottle 330ml, pours almost clear hazelnut brown with some yeast and hop particles swiming in it. Creamy colored head reduces fast to a nice lacing. Strongly sparkling. Sweet aroma of caramel, red fruits, nuts and biscuits. Noticable also some basement notes. In taste also a lot of sweetness with some light background bitterness. The beer is full bodied with a lot very fruitty character and some spicy aftertaste that reminds me of black pepper. Dry with a tart finish. Very nice one eventhough I’m not a big fan of the belgian style.

2/22 Bottle - Incredible beer! Very nice dark brown pour, nice head, very thick texture. Nice fruit and caramel smell. Excellent tasting beer, very nice strong kick going down. Quadrupels are among my favorite beers, and this one was one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommended!!!

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2015 Bottle. Tan frothy head, diminishing but leaving a very thin lasting layer. Aroma is complex and intense. A lot of ripe fruit, dark fruit and prune with some toasted malts tinge.Taste is also complex and rich, plenty of dried fruit flavours (prune, plum and raisin) with caramel and toasted malt tinge. Longing ripe fruit acidity aftertaste.
