The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Coddingtown, Santa Rosa, California. Pours a dark brown color with reddish hues and a giant long-legged off-white head that diminishes slowly into a perfect lacing and film. Smell is yeasty, fruity with some earthy and lactic touches. Very complex! It has notes of toffee, milk, dulce-de-leche, blueberries, blackberries, black currants, raisins, overripe apples, liquor, banana with palm syrup, sour cherries... I could keep going all day. The earthy smell is more obvious after a while. Taste is incredibly complex and intense, showing different aspects in every part of the mouth. Sweet and fruity flavor that shows notes of berries, cognac, honey, toffee, earth and nuts. This is a collossal Abt. Highly warming, it leaves a trail of warmth down the throat and the esophagus. Finish shows some booze. Different and so much more complex than anything else I’ve tried so far.

This is the drink that made me fall in love with beer. Creamy, dark fruits, chocolate and cinnamon. Always a hint of wood and caramel that runs through every sip. A meld that only a master brewer can accomplish. The most beautiful complexion, dark and inviting. So complex yet so accessible. It will make you grin with pleasure as you try to analyse what the hell you’re drinking. Never bettered.

Bottle - Slightly hazy light brwn colour, massive creamy beige head, good retention and fine lacing. Amazingly complex aromas of plum, chocolate, honey, raisins, red grapes, some cloves, dates, candy, toasted nuts, toffee with a touch of cinnamon some wood, herbs. Taste bings that complexity a higher level. Very well balanced, sophisticated and complex beer. Truly amazing and exciting.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2016 WOW! The 8 was excellent but the 10 is a wow! beer. This one rivals a good single malt Scotch! Smell: molasses, moldy raisins, chocolate, caramel, hint of licorice. Taste: well integrated alcohol, prickly carbonation, dried figs, slight acidity. Finish: sweet and spicy, coffee, light hoppy bitterness. (tasted 04/15/16, BB 12/24/19)

Bottle. What a beer, and it’s just awesome to find it in every supermarket (like every Quadruppel) at a really fair price. Good big cream head, strong carbonation. Very sweet and fruity. Flavors : raisin, chocolate, caramel. It’s not really hopy (it’s so malty that it should be overly hoped to be tasted). Strong alcohol flavour too...

330 ml bottle. Pours dark copper with a light brown head. The aroma is lightly yeasty. Full body with average carbonation. The taste is pretty sweet with some acidity from overripe stone fruits. Caramel, honey, and brown sugar and an warming alcoholic ending. A little to much sweetness for my taste.

330ml bottle. Dark amber with an off-white bubbly head. Slightly hoppy aroma, mildly sawdust-like. Bitter flavour, with hops and notes of brandy. Not the greatest Trappist I have ever encountered.

330ml bottle. Huge aroma which is slightly sweet and has notes of something spicy. The flavour is much lighter body then I expected but the flavour profile is monstrous. While there are many flavours I am finding it very difficult to name any.
