Aroma reveals a nutty maltiness and a tonne of hops. The malts, supporting hops. Really great balanced beer. JulienHuxley (204), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of powdered cocoa, malt, and hops. Taste is very cocoa sweet with a bitter hop finale. Medium carbonation gives a neat mouthfeel, and the lingering finish is quite enjoyable. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

Aroma of apple cider, orange peel, pine and earthy caramel. The flavor is floral pine with a touch of citrus. Biscuit malt with a touch of caramel and a dry finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bottle, thanks to Macadem for sharing. Pours a medium reddish-amber, good head, decent lacing. Nose is bright and hoppy, plenty of citrus and leaf, as well as caramel. Palate isn’t as strong, boiled vegetables, caramel, tea, grain, milder, weaker, thinner hops. A decent APA, but it really could have been better. Macadem (101), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2009 A nice hoppy aroma on this, with slight toffee. Taste is a little weak though, with english tea, hops and malt. Pours dark amber with a frothy white head. The carbonation gives it a nice full mouthfeel. bulldogops (156), Alberta, Canada

That ends quickly.
This tasted like chemicals, or Barq’s root beer fermented under a radiator in substandard housing. I couldn’t finish it. I opened another bottle in the hopes that it was just spoiled, but it too was putrid.
Will have to re-rate if I head east.
Re-rate. New bottle. Take back the radiator comment. Taste is still sweet and malty, but this time, no train-wreck blast of chemical hops. Still very hoppy and bitter on the finish, but this time, I’m not running for the spit bucket.
Decent Pale.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2009 From the OCB discovery pack no. 2. 341ml bottle poured into a mug. Poured a clear redish-brown with a 1/4" of creamy foam with some staying power. Aroma mostly of sweet malts with some toasts and citrus fruits. Flavor of toasted grains, some honey like sweetness, a bit of a tang and a some hop bitterness at the end. Feels smooth and creamy with average carbonation. One or two would be enough for me despite the good flavor profile.
