COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fresh sour cherries (krieken) in two year old Lambiek. We use approximately 300 gr cherries for 1 liter Kriek. The second fermentation in the bottle is obtained through addition of a liqueur, made with beer and saccharose.

On tap at Zwanze Day. Hazy deep red colour with a fluffy pinkish head. Tart, yeast, oak, and fruit in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste starts tart but then turns into a complexity complicated to describe with fruitiness, vinegar and sour notes. Overall, a nice lambic.

Sour cherry smell. Taste is the same with the sourness mostly being at the forefront rather than the cherries, which was disappointing given that it is a Lou Pepe, but the bottle was a 2010 drank in 2014, so perhaps that was the reason.

Beautiful hazy red with fluffy white head with red hues. What a view! Aroma is fresh cherry perfume, vanilla, funk and some citrus. Very fruity palate. Aftertaste is bitter, loads of cherries and a round finish. Overall: excellent!

On tap at Erzbierschof for Zwanze Day 2014. Hazy cherry red with a pink small head. Comolex sour cherry aroma, tartness, barnyard, some feeling of the stone left. Great dry-sour taste, low carbonation, complex finish. Really good stuff, as I expect from Cantillon.

Hazy red with a weak pink head. Deeply sour, very complex, almond, red berries, funk, hay. Taste on this one is very balanced, but so much going on, not that much cherries but straight red fruit with very prominent ’almond’ cherry pit feel to it, quite acidic, with a lot of funk and hay.

2008 750ml bottle pours a dark red with a thin off white head. Aroma of oak cherry and lemon. Nice tart and sweet cherry taste.

The highly acclaimed kriek in the Lou Pépé series, which is made of only 2 year old lambics and refermented with the help of a sugary lambic solution to feed the yeast - and of which no residual sugars remain in the finished product. Dirty pink head, pearly, crackling but quickly dissolving as often in traditional lambics (and no lambic lover really cares for it anyway), dark cherry red colour, hazy. Amazingly complex lambic aroma, hay, tons of fresh sour cherries, citric and lactic acidity, sulphur, wine vinegar, barnyard but in a completely elegant and ’noble’ way. Fresh fruity taste of the sour cherries beautifully mixed with the lambic esters, tomato, powerful lambic sourness, sharp, appetizing, earthy, woody, sparkling ’champenoise’ mouthfeel, with a very complex, long, oaky, dry finish. One of Cantillon’s great masterpieces, like the other two Lou Pépés.

Bottle 2011 - Pours a dark red. A nice sour cherry aroma and some sweetness. The taste was mostly cherry and slightly sour w/ a little banyard funk. Overall, damn good!!!

2009 vintage Pours a beautiful deep red with a white head. Nose is acidic cherry, taste is puckeringly tart cherry. Not a sour guy, this didn’t change anything. Those around me who like the style seemed to enjoy it very much.

Tap at gbbf. Pours ruby with a pink head. Aroma is wonderful - lightly sour with lemon, red berries, light custard, cherry... Light body, light carbonation. Lemon, light egg, cherry, raspberry, white wine, peach, apple... Lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
