Great barley wine, glad I bought it. I really like it. Wish I had more around. I got it at a special store at a high price...

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Tan medium length head recedes to hug rim. Dark caramel aromas. Sweet caramel upfront turning to mild earth in the still sweet finish.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. Pours a copper orange with a dull glow. Modest ring of creamy beige head throughout the glass. Odd spots of lacing. Really bright and hoppy nose, potent in fact. Has an intense citrus, caramel malt, jet fuel vibe to it. Lots of life left in the hops after 18 months. Sharp florals, light citrus, and pine. Definitely packing heat at 10.2% and not shy about it... fits its moniker. The indication is this would age well and it reminds me of Old Boardhead, but with more emphasis on hops.

2012 bomber. Lightly sweet and floral aroma with a fleury active head. Dark amber color. Kinda bitter, kinda hoppy, medium sweet, medium boozy, and lightly bitter. Very smooth after aging for 1.75 years. Flavors of caramel, orange, bitter spicing, alcohol, and hops.

Aroma is caramel and toffee malt, earthy and spicy hops, peppery alcohol, dates and candied fruits. Flavor is sweet malt, medium alcohol, fruity esters, medium hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

I really love big beers, but I was not so much in love with this one... I have aged this for a year, but was a bit disappointed in the flavor and aroma. Still enjoyed it... but I expected more...

22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99 in October 2012. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, ripe fruits, a strange bubble gum note, some resiny hops, earthy, wood, pretty decent, alcohol is warming.

Quite good. Strong barley wine flavor. No alcohol heat. And not boozy, which is a welcome change in this style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2013 bottle. Small off-white head on a dark brown body. malty aroma with of caramel and vanilla. Flavor is malty, very hot, fruity and woody. Needs some age.

StefanSD (2015) - Lakeside, California, USA - DEC 29, 2013
650 ml bottle dated 19 July 2012. Pours a nice looking reddish copper color with a small white head that has poor retention and soon fades to a splotchy film. The aroma is strong with apricots, sherry, toffee and floral-ish hops. The taste is malts forward with caramel, toffee, sherry, bitter cedar, and some mixed apricots and mangoes. The palate was just a bit thinner than I would prefer(but it seemed to work) and the carbonation was soft. Finished a tad short . Overall: Very tasty barley wine.
