COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our Yulesmith Seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.
Summer Yulesmith’s citrusy aroma pairs well with many Mexican and Thai dishes, while its bitterness complements the sweetness of rich pork dishes like BLTs or spare ribs. Brawny, intensely flavored cheeses like Danish blues and aged white cheddars are also an effective foil to the aggressive flavor profile of this Imperial IPA.
Serve in a Pint at 45-50*F.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2014 Pours a bright golden orange with a foamy, bubbly white head with very nice lacing. Aroma is of aromatic citrus, pine resin, floral hops, and some tropical fruits. Taste is of citrus (grapefruit dominated with some tangerine and orange), pine resin, floral hops, tropical fruits (pineapple and some mango) some earthiness,, some sweet malts, and a little caramel malt. Has a medium-full body with a super creamy mouthfeel, and a dry, bitter, but sweet, well balanced finish. overall, a amazing DIPA that hides its alchool very well. definitely belongs among the best DIPAs in the world.

Nickel!

Clear deep golden with a fluffy thick white head. Gorgeous nose of light floral pine notes and freshly cleaned hotel room with a wee bit of orange zest. The flavor is big and bold with a large orangey bitterness with lots of floral resins and pine notes, but there’s also this wonderful toffee and caramalt boozy backbone. It’s a striking balance that’s both super hoppy and bitter but also super malty. I think there’s a wee bit of spruce in there as well. Lovely hop flavors of floral resins and fresh picked leafy earthy hops and citrus rind, followed by a lot of caratoffee.

Bottle @ ZZT X, courtesy of dEnk. Pours a clear dark golden beer with a big white head on top. Aroma is pine resin, grapefruit, citric hops, light grassy notes, alcholic influences. Flavor is very bitter, loads of West Coast hops are present here, like liquid rays of sun in a glass. Great stuff to drink in the summer, too bad it’s winter right now. Long bitter and refreshing aftertaste, medium carbonation. Awesome beer, great stuff.

Fresh hops floral, grapefruit, very well developed. Delicious soft yet present bitterness, so well made. Totally American, in the best of ways. Juicy mouth feel, super drinkable. I expected much and still got impressed. (Bottle gifted by Menno and John, many thanks!)

22oz bottle. Golden with one finger head. Citrus and slight pine aroma. Powerful grapefruit and biscuit taste. A very solid beer that hides the alcohol.

11/1/2014. 22 oz. bottle. Hazy amber with a large white head. Dried spice aromas, hops, citrus, pine and malt. This is a fantastic DIPA, nice balance, complex, bitter all the way. Outstanding beer.
