Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

At first glance the beer looks imposing- black and opaque with minimal dark head. Aroma is strong and chocolatey with notes of alcohol and coffee. Taste is intense with heavy alcohol content but balanced out by coffee, malt, and a little spicyness. Bitterness also noted. Full body and is active on the palate and the throat. Really an in-your-face beer with the content to back up all the hype. Excellent in all measures.

Pours an insanely thick black color with an awesome chocolatey head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, vanilla. The flavors you get from this beer are intense. Coffee, Chocolate, Malts, hint of vanilla, and a little hoppiness as well. It has a sweetness and very thick on the palate. Long, dry finish. Great example of what an imperial stout should be.

22 oz. bottle- Pours midnight black with a nice dark tan head, aroma is of alcohol and roasted malt. Flavor is of alcohol, chocolate, caramel, and some coffee. As it warms the chocolate malt becomes more prominent, a very good Imperial Stout

Black with minimal head. Deep aroma of malts, berries, chocolate, molasses, some vanilla. Full, sticky sweet body. Flavor is full of roasted malts, chcolate, dark ripe fruit, light berries, burnt malts, and light vanilla. Mighty fine imperial.

22oz. bomber. Bottle is about 2 years old, same blue/yellow label that is pictured here. Pours thick black with a huge brown head. Leaves layers of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, a bit of dark fruit and some piney hops. Flavor is big and impressive. Malty up-front, chocolate, coffee, molasses, toffee with a nice hoppy finish. Wonderfully balanced. Mouthfeel is virtually perfect. Thick, rich, smooth and creamy with low to medium carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden...some age probably helped here. An excellent stout. Very well crafted and balanced!

This pours black, thick and heavy. Slightly oily. A medium pour gets almost two-fingers of chocolate brown foam for a head. It recedes to a surface covering of almost an 1/8 of an inch. The lacing is plentiful, spotty and slightly sticky. It fights against the oiliness to stay on the side of the glass. Dark chocolate covered coffee beans and black cherries. A light touch of chocolate milk. A mild touch of booziness. Lots of roasted malts. A mild touch of vanilla tootsie rolls. Big, thick, rich, chocolate flavors dominate this one. Huge presence of roasted malts. The sweetness is cut down by a good level of coffee bean bitterness. Mild hints of caramel toffees with a touch of vanilla. Also molasses and toasted barley. The first sip or two of this one seem a touch out-of-balance and slightly boozy. As you get a bit further in to it though, it levels out and is a nicely balanced beer. Beyond full-bodied, this qualifies as thick. It’s coming close to Dark Lord territory, but not quite there yet. It has a mild-to-medium level of carbonation, which works wonderfully and gives it a lovely creaminess. As far as an easily available stout, this is one of the best, body-wise. Okay, so the 9.50%abv will definitely do you in, over time. I could still down three or four of these before it incapacitates me though, and I consider that to be a good thing. Throw the creamy body and smooth taste into the mix and this is one damn fine brew.

12oz bottle. black pour with thin tan head. Huge dark chocolate nose. Perfectly carbonated with the sweet, but not too sweet, chocolate body. 9.5ABV is well hidden. This is a beer worthy of its praise.
