Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

Wow! This is about perfect for me! Smooth as hell! I’ve tried a lot of porters and I can confidently say this is one of the best.

22 oz. bomber. Nice pour of jet black with a big, creamy, tan head that leaves chunky lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and roasted grain. Rich flavor, a bit too bitter for me due to high alpha hops, but very complex and nice overall. It has enough sweetness to balance out the bitter. Drinks very easily for such a rich beer, has a refreshing finish. Full bodied, thick texture, soft carbonation, with a rather bitter finish. Very unique, I like it, would repeat.

Bottle. Smooth and chocolaty mouthfeel with a nice kick of bitterness. Not too much roasty character. Well balanced and very drinkable

Bottle - Very Dark Brown in colour; Ruby Red against light. Good carbonation. Very Malty; dark chocolate, espresso coffee, roast malts, some toffee. Hoppy; balancing hop bitterness. Sweet chocolate roast malty throughout balanced by good hop bitterness. Very chocolate and coffee. Lovely Porter!

Pours a dark brown with a medium brown head that lingers. Aroma is mild hops, malt and some chocolate but very muted. Taste is smooth with lots of hops for a porter. Mouthfeel is smooth and there’s some carbonation.

Hm, this is good. Nice, full, complex aroma of chocolates, smoke, caramels, char (not the fish), a certain evergreen resin and barbecue sauce. Pours dark brown, thick, black as a shoe, with a nice beige head in the glass. Flavours are sweet and salty, very much like some good Baltic Porters, with bitter chocolate, flan, milk chocolate, liquorice, salt, soy sauce, a touch of hazelnuts, nice and bitter in the finish, but perfectly smooth, round, never too charred or too herbal. Creamy, buttery texture, with little carbonation…yummy… this beer has saved my evening of porters.

An easy-drinking porter with some American as well as British characteristics. Very smooth, medium bodied. Creamy head. A bit hoppy and fairly sweet. Milk chocolate, mocha, hazelnut. Pretty light on the roasted malts.
