4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This Abbey Ale proves why Abbey’s are renowned for top quality. On the poor you get a nice seasoned and nutty aroma with a chestnut color. The taste of this fine Ale supersedes the aroma (which is already amazing)! It has a full body with a flavor of roasted nuts and a lingering palate that drives you to sip after sip! Perfect for a nice cold winter day!

Pours deep brown with a two finger mushy moustache making cap. A really nice sipper that offers swirls of caramel & dried fruit, with a slight leafy finish. Pulled from the LCBO 6 pack sampler & it’s another winner.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 mL bottle. Hazy chestnut brown with ruby highlights. Brown head recedes but never disappears. Fairly typical yeasty, fruity (plums, golden raisins) aroma. Appealing, though. Mouthfeel is drier than expected, and certainly dry for the style. Taste doesn’t live up to the aroma. Good, not great.

Part of the St. Bernardus mixed pack. The beer pours a semi-translucent copper-tinged brown with a rocky off-white head. The aroma is yeast, brown sugar, plums, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with above average carbonation. The flavour is sweet mal;t, caramel, raisins, yeast, and a spicy finish. A huge fan of St. Bernardus, and this is a very good beer.
