COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Extremely good beer, the flavor isn’t overpowering, there is barely any hops, and the malt isn’t extremely strong or overbearing. Refreshing and slightly thick but not syrupy or watery. Great, great balancing. No bitterness. Great hearty beer. -Fish!

Drinking a 2007 bottle in 2016. Pours a rich brown. Aroma of sweet buns, toffee, and earthiness. Flavor is soft and slightly oily with a hint of coffee and toffee. Smooth, and comforting. I do not know if I should have drunk it earlier and kept some of the rawness.

Aromat suszonych owoców, nalewki wiśniowej, rodzynek, brzoskwiń z nutą alkoholu, karmelu i gumy balonowej. Smak podobny, zresztą tutaj nie ma co dużo pisać, to wspaniałe piwo, jeden z najlepszych przedstawicieli stylu.

Older bottle getting near the drink by date into Duvel tulip. Tastes very old and monastic. One of the best monk’s brews. Hard to tell the difference between this and a Westie XII. Good nutty aroma. Pours cloudy brown. Nutty aroma and tastes that way too. Great mouthfeel. Not much head but every time you disturb the glass creates tons of champagne-like bubbles. Boozy big beer but the taste is well hidden. A great beer that is much easier to find and cheaper than it’s counterparts. Great stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown with fizzy off white head. Aroma: sweet, banana, dark dried fruits, hints of apricot. Complex taste. Bread and bread malty bread. And I like the balance between sweet and bitter in the end. Very fine beer.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2016 Subtle smell with banana and yeast. Taste is considerably drier than some strong Belgian beers, which is nice. Banana, figs, creaminess from the wheat, subtle dark fruits, hint of coffee. Long finish. Balanced. Nice balance between serious and creamy smoothness. Always a good choice. Don’t serve too cold.

Una abt de color marrón con toques naranjos y alta carbonatación. Su aroma es a toffee, caramelo, frutos oscuros como ciruelas . Su sabor es de un dulzor suave a toffee y caramelo con un final elegante de ciruelas y dátiles. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the bottle there’s weak fruity and bready aroma, after pouring into glass walnuts are dominant. Rather sweet, pretty nutty in the taste. Feels pretty light for such a high abv%. Not bad, but definitely not what i was expecting. Maybe i just got a faulty bottle.
