COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Rewelacyjne piwo. Zapach piszkoptowo-octowy. Spory dymek po zdjęciu kapsla. Piana spora i gęsta niesamowicie. Smak winno-ciastkowo figowy. Suszone owoce pomieszane z karmelowym słodem. Takie miałem odczucia smakowe. Lekko słodkie piwo, mało goryczkowe ale wytrawne i bogate w smaku. Finisz zdecydowanie rozgrzewający, świetnie pasujący na chłodne zimowe wieczory. Gorąco polecam.

Kran. Barwa ciemnobrązowa, prześwity pod światło, piana biała, niska, szybko opada. Aromat bogaty, przyprawowo-korzenny podparty karmelową podbudową słodową, lekkie aromaty chmielowe, lecz nie dominują. W smaku nuty razowego chleba, rodzynek i suszonych owoców.

330 ml bottle. Pours dark copper with a beige head. Mild aroma of breadish malt and yeast. Full oily body with very soft carbonation. The intense taste is rather sweet and long lasting with some alcohol in the finish. Moderately malty, some caramel and honey, dried fruits. Good beer but not exceptional.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2016 0,33l bottle. Dark brown colour with quickly disappering beige head. Aroma: Chocolate, leather, nuts, caramel, notes of dark fruits. Taste: Oh my god! Sweet malty start but with dozen of taste. (toffee, wine, nuts, dark fruits) Almost no bitterness. Full bodied with surprisingly lively carbonation. Very warming feel. Very pleasent light sweet finish. I drunk it in a relatively cold temperature maybe a bit warmer would show more aroma and taste. Amazing quad anyway.

The has been my go to Belgium beer. It is so complex but refreshing, that it makes you wants to go to the monastery brewery just to see what the process is that makes it so good.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2016 Bottle at home. Very dark brown colour, big foamy beige head that leaves a nice, stable lacing. Dried fruits like figs, raisins and dades, some red fruits, roasted malty burnt sugar, light coffee, clove, a little boozy, liquorice and quite a dry and bitter finish (distinguishing it from Westvleteren 12 for me). Complex, but balanced and smooth! Sweet, fruity aftertaste. Good body, medium carbonation.

Brun i färgen. Stall och jäst i smaken. Lite frissig och lite för kolsyrad. En liten besvikelse lite för lätt smak ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
