COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

Deguster au Mondial de la biere. Beaucoup de corps, proeminance de malt, gout d alcool, de framboises. Tasted at the Mondial de la Biere. Lots of body, proeminant malty backbone, alcohol and raspberry taste.

Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. After drain-pouring the last two, I’ve decided to drink something awesome instead! Pours muddy purple/brown, no head, no lacing, and I’m guessing no carbonation... Nose is big raspberry, Tootsie Roll, chocolate, fig, cassis, a bit of leather. Flavours of tart raspberries, light fruit acid, leather, toffee, tart and nippy. Virtually no carbonation... Nice, but considering the hype, maybe I don’t get it?

Bottle (2004): Dark brown with deep red highlights. Very hazy. Very small head that fades quick and leaves hardly any lace. But I wasn’t expecting much with 13.5%ABV. Outstanding Eisbock. Chocolate covered raspberries overwelm my mouth with my first sip. An amazing beer! Not a whole lot to say except if you get a chance to try it don’t pass it up.

2007 Bottle. Pours a murked out purp. Aromas of mary jane, mollases, dark raspberry, honey mead. Taste is chocolate, raspberrys, sugary caramel, toffee, fresh baked pie. Layered with flavors. Easy drinking for the percentage. Awesome.

This 2007 vintage is courtesy of weirdbeer, thank you immensely Joe! This one puts a medium bodied and syrupy amber to red in color. The aromas are like concentrated Raspberry jam. It smells delicious! It’s also very malty. It tastes of sweet and tart raspberry jam. Oh my god its delicious and ultimately spectacular. What a masterpiece! This beer is almost unfathomable. It is hands down one of the best beers I’ve ever had, and that means a lot.

2004 bottle with pat and James. Pours a very dark yet clear brown with no head. Smell is faint but some raspberry notes. Taste is a nice mix of chocolate and raspberry jam. Faintly reminds me of a sort of malt chocolate. A real treat.

Big thanks FlandersNed. Huge want of mine. 2007 Bottle. Brown with red and yellow hues, light bubbles coming up to the surface. Aroma of meaty raspberry and dark fruit. Flavor starts light caramel, bitter raspberry. Middle is layered tart raspberry and refined caramel candy/toasted malt. Finishes dry, sour raspberry with toasted and light roasted malt/chocolate. Alcohol is present in the middle and finish, but not detracting. Very layered.

From notes. First reviewed 8/19/2011. Poured from a 6.3 oz. bottle into a tulip. 2007 vintage. Thanks to readbaron for sharing this. This has a medium brown color with a raspberry tint. Slightly transparent edges. No head, this is pretty flat, just a few stray bubbles. There is a definite blast of raspberries in the nose. This is so much better than what I had heard from other people at this point. For a 2007, this smells like raspberries just picked off the bush. Some malt sweetness behind the tart raspberry aroma. The flavor is full of raspberriess, both sweet and sour and everywhere in between. Some toffee and malt flavors give it a kick of sweetness and a little bit more depth, but the focus is on the raspberries. Just fantastic. The bottle is pretty much flat, and the body is fuller than medium. A light tart acidity is there, as is a light booziness. Wow, this beer impresses. Unfortunately the bottles are so tiny and they have not made it in four years, so finding more seems to be pretty difficult.

bottle through recent trade 2007 bottle opened with a slight hiss. pour has a earthy amber color and basically no head and a still look. aroma has raspberry seeds, odd chocolate, jam sweetness, and toffee. certainly a strange concoction and centered around the raspberry. mouth feel is medium full with a big coating sweetness and basically no carbonation. flavor is rich, berry centered, again the chocolate hits, and caramel. this is like drinking an aged berry tart. there are some burnt toffee flavors that come through as it opens up and this is quite desert like.

Nip bottle thanks to deyholla. Huge raspberry syrup flavor. seedy jam, caramel, and toffee. Really nice raspberry, a sipper for sure. Thick mouthfeel. I am very glad to try this beer finally.

Definately an after dinner sipper...a rich raspberry chocolate alchemy of candy/beer.
