4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
HUGE thanks to Kevin for sharing this growler with us!
A-Body is big, thick and opaque black. Pours with a 1-2 finger creamy dark tan head. Head fades eventually to a thick collar but plenty of lacing sticks all the way down the glass.
S- Exceptional. A delicate balance between bourbon BA characteristics and IRS characteristics. Very complex and slightly sweet-of moderate strength. Vanilla, oak, a slight hint of bourbon sweetness, dark chocolate, anise, dark fruit. Just wonderful.
T-Flavor is just as good as the nose but adds a slight roasted malt component to it. Upfront is a lot of IRS characteristics-dark fruit, anise, licorice, dark chocolate-and offers a bit of vanilla and bourbon sweetness and the slightest hint of oak in the background. A hint of roasted malt comes through for the finish to create an equal balance to the slightly sweet initial flavor. Some remnants of the initial flavor linger as well as a slight roasted malt bitterness.
P- Low to medium carbonation and a body that is thick, viscous, and exceptionally smooth and creamy.
O- This is one of the best stouts I have ever had. The BA components compliment the stout characteristics very well and this is worlds better than regular speedway-seem like 2 completely different beers. The flavors are really big here but it is not nearly as aggressive as regular speedway. Great to try the 2 side by side!

2013 bottle. Bottle shared with cards04. Dark black body with brown quickly fading head. Aroma of bourbon, warm malts, biscuit and booze. Taste is bourbon first then cocoa and faint touch of coffee and tomatoes. Less coffee-centric than the original. A touch of booze but quite smoothe palate. Excellent beer.

This is one special beer. Pours black with quickly receding tan head. Aromas are heaven. Vanilla and bourbon dominate. Than some nutty aromas come through with caramel in there too. Flavors are more chocolate than coffee for me. Bittersweet chocolate, some coffee, boozy heat as well. Awesome stuff.

4.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
From a bottle at hotel room before going to day two of fuck yeah festival 2014. The pour Is dark brown with a white head , above average c02 compared to other bba beers . The great presence in aroma and taste is bourbon yet the aroma is more strong than the taste or palate with a ton of coffee and chocolate. This is my standard of a bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Boozy barrel, molasses and roast malts. Jet black with a thin brown head. Boozy bourbon notes, intense coffee and syrupy molasses. To overpowering and big, you lose any subtly or flavours that should be there. I prefer the original.

Bottle Craft clerkenwell RBESG14. Black beer lasting tan head. Vanilla chocolate sponge cake. Still a great base beer. Lovely chocolate not sure the barrel ageing helps. Vanilla. some heat om finish. Not as good as the original.

Snagged a bottle of this from across the border in WI. Spendy! $42 damn! Awesome beer though, subtle on the booze and tastes like a less strong BCBS.

2013 vintage. 750 ml bottle into a snifter. Pours a pitch black with a finger of light mocha foam. Nose is dark chocolate, espresso, light licorice and tons of bourbon. Vanilla, oak, and sugary marshmallow. Smells hot. The taste is smooth chocolate leading into slightly faded but not stale coffee. Vanilla and oak linger in the background. Great balance of sweetness and roastiness. Incredibly creamy and smooth mouth feel. This is a top notch barrel aged stout, and probably just a notch below fresh BCBCS. Can’t imagine how good this must be fresh or any of the variants.
