4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
HUGE thanks to Kevin for sharing this growler with us!
A-Body is big, thick and opaque black. Pours with a 1-2 finger creamy dark tan head. Head fades eventually to a thick collar but plenty of lacing sticks all the way down the glass.
S- Exceptional. A delicate balance between bourbon BA characteristics and IRS characteristics. Very complex and slightly sweet-of moderate strength. Vanilla, oak, a slight hint of bourbon sweetness, dark chocolate, anise, dark fruit. Just wonderful.
T-Flavor is just as good as the nose but adds a slight roasted malt component to it. Upfront is a lot of IRS characteristics-dark fruit, anise, licorice, dark chocolate-and offers a bit of vanilla and bourbon sweetness and the slightest hint of oak in the background. A hint of roasted malt comes through for the finish to create an equal balance to the slightly sweet initial flavor. Some remnants of the initial flavor linger as well as a slight roasted malt bitterness.
P- Low to medium carbonation and a body that is thick, viscous, and exceptionally smooth and creamy.
O- This is one of the best stouts I have ever had. The BA components compliment the stout characteristics very well and this is worlds better than regular speedway-seem like 2 completely different beers. The flavors are really big here but it is not nearly as aggressive as regular speedway. Great to try the 2 side by side!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
(Bottle sample @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Mar 21 2015) Pours pitch black with a decent tan head and some lace. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, toasted coconut, raw sugar, dark bittersweet chocolate, some sweet black coffee. On the palate it is similar, heavily barrel influenced with wood and whiskey, coconut, cocoa and coffee grounds, fading into a woody, earthy, bitter chocolate/coffee finish with pervasive notes of bourbon lingering, touch of hops and faint but noticeable alcohol heat. Medium-full oily/creamy body with soft carbonation. Rich and unctuous, maybe a little heavy on the barrel characters vs. coffee, especially compared to the regular version, coming across a little sweeter and less bitter. Feels great in the mouth and not at all boozy. I really like this but will leave my bottle for a little while, think it will improve with a bit of time.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2015 First off, absolutely amazing beer to try been looking for this one for a wile. Thanks Andrew for splitting it with me. Found this beer at engine house #9 in Tacoma, black pour thin head, Bourbon aroma, great flavor of chocolate some coffee still taste a little hop, cinnamon, licorice, and definitely the bourbon flavor, you can taste the ABV but it’s not overwhelming, this beer can only get better with some more age, hope I get the opportunity to try one with some age some time.
