Red wine aroma, malt aroma. Black body, light brown short head. Taste is complex, somewhat confusing. Citrus notes, roasted, wine, dark chocolate. Slight sour tang, bitterness. Some sweet fruit-malt notes, balancing the bitterness. Mouth fill is watery but full, carbonation is quite strong. After taste is slightly sweet with hints of malt and coffee.

Purchased at Binnys in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a Saturday afternoon while listening to records and watching baseball. Appearance is a moderate pitch black with a thin tan head, looks nice. Aroma of nice chocolate and cocoa, light caramel. Taste goes down lightly bitter with great chocolate notes, light nut. Pretty good porter, happy to have had one of the most famous porters around!

Another excellent beer by Fullerís that is a benchmark of its breed. Has everything one would be looking for in a Porter - without any of the faults/tradeoffs found in many other brews.

God forbid you ever come across this beautiful bottle as it adds way too much to the price. Classy though. A wonderful mouth feel and a classic. Very simple but hits the nail in the head. The chocolate notes beat out other brews that have added chocolate. All the flavors you want in your porter and zero flaws. Find it in a can and itís a steal. I really value complexity in a beer which this definitely does not have. I feel I may have over rated this but I am going to stick by it.

Awesome dark beer! Everything that beer should have is right in place. Hard to find in Russia.

This is very smooth and easy to consume. I was expecting a stronger taste but it doesnít really matter. There is the hint of familiar good sliminess that comes with Fullerís ales. Approved.

See: Dark almost black. Minimal tan head. Smell: Dates, coffee hint plus sweet chocolate. Taste: Sweet at first, rich dark chocolate and coffee then hops and bitterness come through at the end. Pallet: slight zing from light carbonation. Silky and rich mouthfeel. Delicious!
