Dark, Rich, and Sexy. Chocolate malts and four varieties of hops make this a very full flavored ale.

Bottle. Oily black pour with a tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, hazlenut, roasted malt, earthy hops, toffee and coffee. Flavors of rich dark chocolate, booze soaked dark fruits, coffee, caramel, bitter/earthy undertones. Thick body, rich/roasty/bittersweet and satisfying throughout with a bitter/roast finish. Overall, there are two porters that tie for my favorite and they are both from MI: this and Darkhorse Special Black Bier. They both kind of go beyond of what I usually get from this style. This is one amazing brew, there’s lots of beers double in strength that fail to capture its focus and flavor.

Nose is slightly fudgy, black heavy roast coffee, extremely rich. Flavor is same. Practically an imperial stout from the aroma and flavor profile, truly a remarkable beer loaded with flavor for this ABV and style.

Bottle shared with S&G. APPEARANCE: black beer, small stable beige head. NOSE: coffee, mocha, vanilla. TASTE: mocha, coffee, bitter. Good for it’s ABV!

Bottle. Pours almost black with a small dense beige head. Dark chocolate, roasted malt, fresh coffee and raisins in aroma. Dark chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee, well balanced bitterness. Dry mouth feel, medium body, medium carbonation. Dry bitter coffee after taste.
Solid porter! This is how I like them. Like Black Butte but a bit thicker.

Getting some chocolate and bitterness. Nice rich dark colour. Great beer to sit on through a movie. Probably wouldn’t have more than one.

I awoke to the sound of thunder. Total darkness. Blackness surrounded me. Against my better judgment I was drawn to the outside. Oak trees towered over the smokey campfire, now damp from the rain. As the water washed over me I thought of my father, when he smoked a pipe when I was young. Pitch black. Morning may never come...

Tasted on tap. Very strong 2-note flavors; decent chocolate and some savory umami.

J’aime.

Brown, black, cloudy, frothy, brown foam, chocolate, coffee, earthy, smoke, woody, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, full body, creamy, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish, and all around a great porter.

Dark black/brown pour, laces the bottle well. A lot of bitter coffee in the smell. A bit too bitter. Flavor is dark chocolate and roasted coffee but a bit sweet as well. A bit of carbonation but not too much. The bitterness overpowers. I guess I am not a big fan of bitter porters.
