Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Bottle. Oily black pour with a tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, hazlenut, roasted malt, earthy hops, toffee and coffee. Flavors of rich dark chocolate, booze soaked dark fruits, coffee, caramel, bitter/earthy undertones. Thick body, rich/roasty/bittersweet and satisfying throughout with a bitter/roast finish. Overall, there are two porters that tie for my favorite and they are both from MI: this and Darkhorse Special Black Bier. They both kind of go beyond of what I usually get from this style. This is one amazing brew, there’s lots of beers double in strength that fail to capture its focus and flavor.

Pours a pitch black color with medium tan colored head. Roasty aroma, coffee, dark fruits, molasses, with cocoa and also a vinous character. Taste follows the aroma, very roasty, with molasses, toffee, coffee, chocolate, licorice and slightly vanilla, with a hoppy and bitter finish to it.

Fruit notes in the aroma that transfers in the body. Coca malt balances the robust profile.

Pours head-high with minimal lacing after; appears rich and shutter-dark, with plum highlights when held against the sunlight. Smells like alcohol-infused pumpernickel bread with a tinge of citrus. The taste is sweeter than it is bitter due to the preponderance of roasted malt, but the hop presence here is a little stronger than a traditional porter’s. Mouthfeel is chewy and thick, and the aftertaste of black coffee (or 80% dark chocolate, if you prefer) lingers. Very drinkable even for people who don’t like bitterness because the malt defines the direction and the result is more like a chunk of slightly sweetened dark chocolate than a handful of mountain ash berries or a stringent aperitif.

To jest to co Tygryski lubią najbardziej. Pachnie niesamowicie. W nos uderzają nuty czekolady, kawy z mlekiem, ciesteczek ala Pieguski, kakao.

At Gourmet Experience, after lunch with Pedro & David. In wine cup. Enjoyable but too much expensive for what it is (4.5?) Watery texture body but with a good hops background that compensates it

355 ml bottle. Jet black, thin tan/mocca head. Aroma is beautiful, dark bitter chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, tar and pipe tobacco. Mouthfeel is rich, bitter and creamy with a long aftertaste. Flavours reflects the aromas, and reinforce them further. Fantastic beer.

BOTTLE 12 OZ. Pitch black, medium beige head. The aroma does not knock one down, yet it is subtle and fine - sweet hot chocolate, light roast and hoppy spice. The taste is lightly sweet, well balanced between sweet chocolate, light roast and a moderate spicy bitter finish. A subtle and well-crafted beer.

Dark brown almost black with a tan head that disappears quickly. Aroma of caramel and toffee with roasted malts. Medium body with lots of bitterness from the black malts. Silky mouth feel with lots of malt. Filling finish. An excellent everyday porter for the working masses.

Classic roasted malt aroma, coffee, cocoa powder. Dark, opaque brown, creamy beige head. Full bodied for a porter, finish dries out nicely though with cocoa powder, espresso and hop notes.
