4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours all black with a dark khaki, almost brown head that slowly expands into full as the beer settles. Pretty cool. Aroma is potent, and I must say unique. Raisin and alcohol stand out the most, but there is plenty of chocolate, coffee, and licorice in here as well. Moving on to the taste, it is dominated by the darker impressions. This being chocolate and coffee, while the liquor notes are still strong. This one is is full bodied with a thick, oily texture. The aftertaste is heavy and long lasting with chocolate and raisin. The alcohol content hits you quite quickly. It doesnít hide. For what Iím looking for in this style, this might be close to perfection. I am stingy and I throw 4.5 ratings like theyíre manhole covers. But this is worth it. This might be the best stout Iíve ever had.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from K&L in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is vanilla, buttery dark butters. Taste is smooth and hard to explain. Not super stylized...no overwhelming coffee or dark chocolate. Just smooth, delicious. This is a stout among stouts. That perfectly weird pop song you love on the radio but canít explain why. A class of itís own.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Go Lehigh. Lafayette Sucks. 2014 Bottle (13 months old) to goblet. Aroma is a lot of roasted barley. Hints of coffee also. Appearance: Dark black color, very thick, with thick light tan head. Taste: bitter dark chocolate, roasted barley, maybe a touch burnt. Excellent beer though. Feel is thick and meaty. Not quite as tasty as some other stouts, but all the peripherals are on the mark. Excited to age a few of these further.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black pour with a lasting beige head and good lacing.
Nose: espresso, licorice, dark chocolate cake. Sweet molasses. Cigar box nose. Taste: full sweet molasses and roasted malts. Straight forward, old school impy. Rich texture. Roasty, malty molasses and very mouthcoting. Coffee, licorice and medium bitterness in the finish.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very dark brown with a coffee froth head. Aroma isn't very strong, mostly toffee. Taste has alcohol bite with a strong roastiness. Mouthfeel is thick, but not very creamy. Alcohol and hops bite on the front end. Alcohol follows down the throat and hops linger on the palate. Apart from the high ABV, this one is definitely a one and done for the night. Great beer, though.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark charcoal colored beer with a late forming billowing root beer float head. Nose of cocoa powder, dark coffee, and aged balsamic vinegar. Flavor is rich with burnt pumpernickel, espresso, and prunes overlaying a smoky charred bitterness on the finish. A bit of acid hits at the end too. Extremely flavorful, but one at a time is more than enough.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Amazing. Pours a deep dark medium foamy one. Aroma is of dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and liquorice. Taste is of creamy melting dark chocolate, liquorice. Gently roasted caramel malt. Mouth feel is full bodied and creamy rich. Aftertaste is bitter, hoppy and an interesting heat, but not overstaying. All flavors are complex and so well accomplished. Extraordinary RIS for sure.
