4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 Final beer of a very thankful and loaded night - this has lots to live up to, by golly. Aroma - mmm. Best yeast I have ever smelled in an impy. Nice dark chocolate with coffee roast. Great appearance of darkness with incredible head and retention; very good lacing also. Flavor - oh geez. This is just so. Best beer night of my life. I get Stone Double Bastard, and then this? Has God blessed me this much? Blends all the best coffee characteristics of their Java with all the richness and licorice and complexity of their Kalamazoo. w00ters. NEARLY at the Founders Breakfast Stout, methinks, if not quite at the *@&$ level of Goose Island Bourbon. Blind taste testing someday plz? RE-RATE: At the level of Founders. Would be hard-pressed to decide between the two. ANOTHER RE-RATE: It was not quite at the level of Founders. Little heavy on the palate. Still a phenomenal beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Super dark. Raisin smell, with a good thick foam head from a strong pour. Good when temped up, but not a go too. Thick lingering taste that is a solid stout but not to my taste.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The best brew of the night. I couldn’t even tell this was an imperial - so smooth and little bite with great chocolate and espresso.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle, Batch #13592, packaged on 10/23/14. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a while. There’s also a lot of lacing. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like chocolate, dark fruit, molasses, coffee, and roasted malt. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there’s also some vanilla noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is full, it’s creamy, smooth and a bit coating with moderate carbonation. It’s been years since I’ve had one, but it’s still as good as I remember it being. A classic, great stout that I really need to drink more often!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Almost a perfect appearance for a stout … black color and thick foamy dark brown suds. Deliciously smooth feel and heavy notes of chocolate and bark. Stouts like this the best because they don't have that bitter bite.

Pitch black with a thin lacing head. Quite bitter with a nice saltyness and soy sauce. Very enjoyable!
