I decided to go for this long awaited treat from The Alchemist for my 200th review. Poured from 16oz can to imperial Surly pint glass... Pours a hazy honey gold, gorgeously unfiltered. I like my orange juice with pulp, I like my beer with floaties. A big, rocky off-white head swells to fill the 20oz glass. Spotty, sticky lacing. Great looking beer, I don’t really understand why this beer is suppose to be hidden inside of a can. The nose is stuffed with fresh hop aromas - tangerine, orange peel, fresh floral bits, plenty of evergreen harshness to balance the heavy citrus. Not really any detectable malts here. On the tongue... hop abrasion like I’ve never really experienced. Grapefruit, orange peel, massive flavors. Exceedingly hoppy and bitter. The super dry, bitter afterburn keeps me going for more. What a delicious thing this is. Overall, I can see why people go nuts over this stuff. A unique, aggressive, very satisfying drink.

Hazy bright yellow with little white head. Aroma is tomatoes, grass, sugar, pine cone, citrus. Taste is is very sour with fruity sweetness. Mouthfeel is very smooth, more of the same in the finish. Overall good.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2016 My 100th US brewery. Can from a trade with sneakychi, many thanks! Pours hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma is tomato, resinous, grassy hops. Taste is juicy, resinous, grassy, yeasty. Smooth mouthfeel, a bit of a booze punch in the back. Very good, but completely different from what I expected. It’s much more simple, but still a bit delicate. Extremely drinkable though.

Really fresh can, danke Stefan! Salty, dank, light vegetal - strong tomato vine! Cloudy yellow, white lace. Medium body, foamy. Herbal, tomato vine again, fermenting citrus peel, salt finish. Alright, interesting, a bit overyped, but very very drinkable.

(can, many thanks to sinh4!) hazy golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of herbal hops, nettles and sweatsocks, with a light touch of cherry stones, some yeast slurry and honeymelon. flavour is mostly yeast and pale malts, quite resinous, with some more nettles, herbal hops and a medium-bitter finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Very pale opaque orange pour with healthy frothy white head a half inch high. Delicious juicy citrus aroma, bit of tropical fruits like pineapple too, pollen and lavender as well. Carbonation is average, nothing to note of mouthfeel, finishes crisp. Strong malt backbone, some herbals, bit boozy, acidic strong citrus that's slightly bitter. Dynamite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A: cloudy; orangish gold in color; 2 finger ivory head that receded to a splotchy cap; nice lacing; A: pine, with tropical fruit and caramel behind it; much more distinctive in a glass; T: from the can, it follows the nose; moderate bitterness on the finish; aftertaste is somewhat sweet; in a glass, the flavor, while still nice, isn’t nearly as complex as it is from the can; sweeter all the way through; P: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish; O: having tasted these side by side, I definitely favor drinking from the can;

One of the best IPA’s I’ve had. Those Trillium brews have really skewed me on what is THE BEST though. Great look and aroma and awesome blend of citrus with a piney bite. Nice blend of new wave hazy and flavor of traditional standard. Got much better as it warmed up.
