3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HoppyAlesToYou (106) - Saint John, Indiana, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Wisps of chocolate, roasted coffee, resin, leather, licorice, soy sauce, and wood are in the aroma. This ale is as deep dark brown as it can be without being black, with a brown head and good lacing. The taste reinforces the aroma, but is not profound by any means. It is smooth and silky on the palate, with a long bitter woody finish. Overall, I prefer this to the regular Yeti, as it is more nuanced and drinkable. Looking forward to trying the other BA Yeti.

Pours very dark and thick. Head is huge, thick like steamed cappuccino milk, and the color of a rich chocolate milk shake. One of the darkest heads I’ve seen yet. Smells surprisingly bright with fresh hops coming through, loads of chocolate roasted malts, wood, and some vanilla, though it is not one of the dominant flavors. The flavors are rich, and very well balanced. Mouth feel is super thick. Has a very creamy texture. There is a clean bitter after taste that seems derivative of both dark roasted coffee and fresh hops. Although I don’t sense very much wood in this one, I wouldn’t change it for the world. This is a wonderfully perfect brew.

Poured on a tulip. It has dark body with a huge two to three finger head. it smells like brown sugar, caramels and most of all coffee. The taste of these beer is very sweet up front candy, caramels, there is also some bitterness to it and at the back, sour and very yeasty. The mouth feel is also excellent solid

Nice oak and vanilla aroma but with lots of booze. Deep deep brown with chocolate-tan head. Full, oily and chocolaty with nice oak balance. Bitterness comes through strongly at the end. Excellent.

Poured from 22oz bomber into small wine glass. Bottled in Nov 2010 but purchased from liquor store in Jan 2012. Aroma was lots of coffee, a little chocolate, and quite a bit of booze. Very dark brown, almost black in color. Hazy and small 1 finger light brown head. Slightly sweet taste and a little bitter. Full body and thick texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish and lots of coffee and alcohol in the aftertaste. As it warmed more bitter, coffee, and alcohol flavors and aromas came out. Not my favorite and probably would not buy again. Last glass had some sediment.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 ferit (25) - - JAN 30, 2012
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dfhhead25 (92) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Aroma- oak, some vanilla, some chocolate
Appearance- nice and dark, thick creamy tannish head
Taste- big hop profile upfront followed by a relatively harsh onslaught of oak and roasted qualities, some chocolate to follow, rather bitter finish
Palate- the big hop body makes this beer feel extremely full-bodied
Overall- Somewhat unbalanced Yeti IMO. The huge hop body and roasted notes upfront dominant the subtle chocolate and vanilla notes that should be prominent on the backend. My least favorite Yeti, but still pretty good considering.
