4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a deep amber with a large fluffy tan head. Complex nose of sweet malts and floral/grassy hops. One of the most aromatic brews i’ve experienced. Very creamy and sweet on the palate with an great bitter hop finish. I am a big fan of 90min IPA and this is one step above. I really really like this brew. I am so lucky to live so close to the source as I seem to be finding Dogfish Head brews in more and more shops.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle shared. Medium to dark orange with white head and wonderful lacing. Aroma is complex malt and plenty of hops. The flavor is a definite blend of 90 minute and the oak staves. As they say very complex and very tasty. At 80 ibu the bitterness is somewhat muted.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle from a 4pk. Pours a deep golden amber with no head. Aromas lead with apricots, followed by floral notes and finished with bitter hops. Flavors of floral perfume, resinous hops, with a white wine finish from the oak. Mouthfeel is syrupy, oily, and low carbonated.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of Secret Summer Santa 2014. Pours hazy golden with a rather small offwhite head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, tiny fruity and slightly malty with sweet bread, caramel, toffee, resinous wood, pine needles, grapefruit rinds, vanillin, moss, alcohol, moist soil and orange zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, fruity and tiny malty with caramel, grapefruit juice, resinous wood, pine needles, moist grass, piña colada, minerals, vanillin, rose pepper, orange zest and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, tiny astringent, slightly oily bitter, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, tiny fruity and slightly malty with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, grapefruit juice, piña colada, resinous wood, pine needles, orange zest and lemon zest. For aging an IIPA this is great however it still doesn’t convince me the concept is a good idea to begin with.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
I have tried this beer aged as well and it holds up slightly improved. The bitterness is impressive, alcohol well hidden but metallic taste upon finish is a little overbearing. Impressive in some regards but disappointing in others.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12fl oz bottle poured into a Dogfish IPA glass. Pours the color of honey with a ton of off white head. Aroma is strong oak and alcohol. Flavor is wood, vodka, slight vanilla. I think there's a lot more going on here but the alcohol is too overpowering to tell. The finish is long and bitter with alcohol warmth. Interesting and very strong but a bit too much to want another.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Almost too much of everything. Very sharp in the flavor, quite spicy almost. AFtertaste is quite dry but with a deep lingering orange fruit aftertaste that lasts forever. You can taste it’s 10%

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 ounce bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a thick, rich creamy beige head about one finger high. Aroma of rich toasted malt with hints of caramel and earthy oak. Floral hops appear as well. First sip yields a complex bittersweet oaky malt flavor with dry spicy hops. Perfectly balanced and complex, with obvious bourbon notes. The finish brings notes of cognac and rich vanilla bean. This is amazingly delicious. Don’t miss it.
