4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
750 ml bottle into a trappist glass. Wow, the cork nearly took my damn head off. Pours a hazy burnt orange with a yellow/amber glow. There is a finger of frothy white head and nice lacing. Beautiful beer. Aroma is dough, barnyard yeast, banana, clove, lemons, white pepper, and sharp spices. Taste is bread, clove, banana, lemon, candi sugar, mild grassy hops, and maybe a touch of brown sugar in the end. Mouthfeel is medium to thin and very drinkable. I would guess this beer is 7%, not 10.5. So so awesome. Wow. I love this beer, amazing.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Rcvd in trade.
The appearance was a golden red almost amber colored body with a slim half finger white foamy head that dies within less than a minute. There is an adequate sticky lacing that graces the sides of the glass.
The smell was a super nice spiciness up front with a deep malty breadiness coming through strong and then I get some light coriander and clove as well as some peppery tones. There is a light citrus that enters in as it warms.
The taste is somewhat a malty sweet breadiness with a decent blend of citrusy flavors spreading around my mouth. There is a slight spicy yet sweet aftertaste with sweet sticky finish.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium and comes across somewhat sessionable surprisingly enough for 10.5% - big wow from me. Carbonation is fairly smooth for a Belgian IPA though I think I like how everything comes across and coats my mouth and tongue.
Overall, wow, I actually wasn’t expecting this one to be this good and am thinking this would go great with a pepperoni pizza to even grilled shrimp. My mind is racing right now with all of the pairings I could do with this. I wish it was in my distro.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a light caramel color with a golden malt aroma. Tast was simple for such a high alcohol content beer. Some malt flavor throughout with a little sweetness. The sweetness was of chewy caramel mixed with some spice. A decent beer that masked the alcohol content well.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pen & Paper Log - (Jun 2012)
Aroma - aroma contains alcohol, honey, juicy fruits (peach or pineapple), and Belgian brewing yeast
Appearance - golden color, nearly clear, with a rocky white head. There is also a good bit of effervescence
Taste - alcohol is the most notable aspect of the taste. In the flavor is also spice, floral aspects, and some fruity parts.
Palate - body is light, the texture also light, the carbonation is really abundant and very lively, the finish is dominated by alcohol and yeast characteristics.
This seems to be a pretty common Belgium brew, and I can say it’s not pleasing to me. I’ve had better BSA’s by far.
