COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Cloudy orange pour with no head...Strong hope aroma of pine with a bit of malt behind it...Medium body, smooth carbonation....Slightly creamy mouthfeel...Hop flavors dominate...Lots of malty sweetness balances out the bitterness...Highly drinkable...A perfect DIPA by my standards...Delicious...

12oz bottle from Liquor Loft. Copper pour with a thin off-white and soapy lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit, apricot, caramel, hops. Tastes are pine hops and lightly boozy. Quite drinkable for 10%+. Nice.

Bottle: Extremely complex, starts super sweets with lots of honey notes, mid way you get full hoppy goodness. Finish is dry, wine-like and potent. Alcohol is well hidden, which makes it dangerously good! Food Pairing: Mexican Quesadillas.

From notes. East coast style IPA. More malt forward than hoppy. Cloudy, hazy orange pour. High alcohol level, but still drinkable. Decently priced.

Draught. Deep clear gold with great head and lace. The aroma is its most unique aspect with a complex catty funk fainter tropical fruits and a little pine. Flavor is moderatly candy sweet with mango and a deep pure hop bitterness the lingers. Light cool palete with flat carbonation feel. Almost no alcohol comes through on this monster. Really interesting though doesnt all come together for a standout.

Pours a pretty, if typical, clear amber with a rather thick and fine-bubbled pale cream head that does not stick around too long. Hoppy aroma has a yeasty overtone and more than a hint of fruit. Flavor is as yeasty as it is hoppy, but still good to drink; there is a decent undertone of apple and orange. Texture has average body, and the fizz is not strong but persists quite well. A decent, if not outstanding, double IPA.

On tap. Pours a brassy yellow, white head, very nice lacing. Weird aroma, pine and very faint tropical hop. The flavor is equally strange, very little flavor on the front of the sip then you get hit with a metallic like bitterness followed by alcohol, then it’s tied up with a lingering sweetness that I did not taste while the beer was in my mouth. The carbonation is high and the body is medium.

Bottle sample at a spring beers tasting at Norma Jean. Clear deep golden-copper. Aroma of old hops and a bit of malt. Sweet and malty flavor and a bitter finish with some somewhat stale hops. Medium-bodied. Seems old.
